3DS Games - Attack on Titan

The Attack on Titan franchise has so far had 3 titles released on the Nintendo 3DS system, created by several game developers. "Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains", "Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death" and "Attack on Titan 2: Mirai no Zahyo". The latter is a sequel to the game Humanity in Chains. These games range from 3D fighting games to visual novels and take players through important parts of the story, allowing them to experience what it's like to fight Titans with the weapons seen in the original series.

Attack on Titan: Mankind in Chains

Developed by Spike Chunsoft for Nintendo 3DS, Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains is an action game based on the popular manga and anime series Attack on Titan . The game is also known as "Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Humanity" in Japan. The game was originally released on December 5, 2013, in Japan, with an updated version, "Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Humanity Chain," released later that December. The updated version was later released in North America and Europe with the original Japanese audio and English subtitles.

Story and Gameplay

The game begins at exactly the same time as the original series. From the year 845, when the Titans first attacked and demolished the walls.

In the single-player story mode, the player can play as characters from the Attack on Titan manga and fight against the Titans in a 3D world based on the original story. The playable characters in the original version are: Eren Jaeger , Mikasa Ackermann , and Armin Arlert . Two additional characters were added in Chain; Levi Ackermann and Ash Braus .

World Mode is an online cooperative mode where up to 4 players can play together and battle the Titans.

The game received relatively poor reviews. Metacritic, a well-known review aggregator website, gave the game a score of 46%, and IGN gave it a 4.9 out of 10. Other critics have reviewed this game, and most of them have given it a score below 5 out of 10.

Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death

Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death is a visual novel game developed by Koei Techmo for Nintendo 3DS. It was released in Japan on May 11, 2017.

Story and Gameplay

The game features an original story set before the Female Titan Arc. The protagonist is a member of the Survey Corp, and their group is ordered to investigate Elsnir Castle. During the investigation, the group is surrounded by titans and must escape from the castle's underground ruins. The player must work alongside a character from the series to find escape routes. As the main character, the player first chooses their gender. If they choose a male, they are paired with Mikasa. If they choose a female, they are paired with Levi. Along the way, the player will unlock other characters to add to their party, and each character leads to a different story.

The player controls the outcome of the game by choosing a decision or dialogue from a list of options. Each option influences the outcome of the game and can be the key to escape.
During their escape, they must face Titans, called "Battle Acts." In these battles, the player must press the correct combination of buttons to be able to retaliate and fight against the opposing Titan.

Attack on Titan 2: Mirai no Zahyo

Attack on Titan 2: Mirai no Zahyo, also known as Attack on Titan 2: Future Coordinate in Japan, is the sequel to Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains. This game was developed by Spike Chunsoft and was released on November 30, 2017, in Japan for Nintendo 3DS.

Story and Gameplay

The story's plot takes place in the second season of Attack on Titan. It mainly focuses on the "Future Coordinates Chapter," the "Reiner, Annie, and Bertholdt Chapter," and the "Ymir and Christa Chapter."

There are two main modes in this game: Story Mode and World Mode. Story Mode retells the story in a Season 2 anime style with two additional side stories: "Ilse's Notebook Chapter" and "A Choice Without Regrets."

In World mode, the player creates their own original character and undertakes several missions. A cooperative mode for up to 4 players is also available. As the player progresses, they can become a Titan or even create a new Titan. There is also a base-building mechanism where the player can craft the base to defend against attacking Titans.
