A look at Illya's (Fate) figures
Illyasviel von Einzbern of the Einzbern family. How can you not love this adorable and gifted mage? Of course, she was the first Master to try to kill our protagonists Rin, Saber, Archer, and Shirou Emiya in Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blades . When she's first introduced, she's portrayed as a creepy girl who smiles while her monstrous servant Berserker (Heracles) tries to beat Shirou to a pulp. But later in the story, we discover that she was a homunculus, used as a tool by the Einzbern family. And if you dig deeper into the story, you learn that her father, Kiritsugu, loves her and didn't abandon her for Shirou. He tried to get her back time and time again, but the Einzbern clan tore them apart and fed his hatred into this psychotic Master. Illya was a victim of her circumstances, that's for sure. But in the end, she showed love and tenderness for her Berserker.
Fast forward to the Destiny/Kaleid liner Prisma Illya series, and you get a much nicer and sweeter story for our heroine Illya. Prisma Illya In reality, she wasn't used as a tool in the Holy Grail War. She gets to live the life of a normal ten-year-old girl. And she has lots of family and friends! So we no longer need to cry sad tears for our daughter, Illya. Instead, we can rejoice, in the form of Illyasviel collectible figures!
Interestingly, we searched the TOM store for figurines of Illya in her classic look from the Fate/Stay Night series (none of the routes). But nothing appeared. This isn't to say that Illyasviel doesn't have figures wearing her purple jacket or coat, but more recent depictions of her in the Prisma Ilya universe have dominated the market. This could simply be a sign that fans prefer versions of Illya's happy stories to her bad and sad endings. No complaints here, as this has led to a wide variation for our light gray-haired mage. So let's see how she's been honored in three dimensions!

This might be our favorite representation of Illya in figure form! She's wearing the Klangfest Live Event stage outfit. This means she's wearing a bright pink and white button-down top, coordinated with a purple skirt over bright red ruffles. Her boots are different lengths, proving she's a true trendsetter (it reminds us that some pop singers were famous for wearing one glove instead of two). We love the feathers all over her costume because they make her look like a modern-day magical angel. And the hair on her head is wild and beautifully sculpted. She's smiling a big, open-mouthed grin and looking upwards at an audience while holding a golden microphone in her hand. This is a very happy and vibrant figure of Illya. Looking at her, you'd think she's more connected to the Love Live! universe than Destiny 1. She certainly doesn't look like someone whose heart is about to be ripped out. Because it's not happening!
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya 3rei!! Illya / Saber
Just because Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is a magical girl anime, that doesn't mean Illya can't kick some ass! Case in point: this awesome figure of her in Saber's outfit after using the Saber card. Basically, you can combine the action of the Fate/Stay Night series with the cuteness and color of a magical girl series. In this figure, Illya's hair is a bit blonder than usual and tied back in a ponytail like a certain King of Knights we all know and love. The parts of her armor are really shiny, making them look like actual metallic surfaces. But instead of a royal blue dress, Illya sticks to her usual color scheme in a light pink and white number. One thing makes this figure truly action-packed, or maybe we should say two things. Actually, we can attribute it to three things. First on the list is her fierce, wide-eyed expression on her face. Definitely a mid-fight face and not a mid-song one like the previous figure. Second, there's the explosion effect coming from her right foot that's attached to the base of the figure. You can tell she's delivering a very powerful strike because of this effect, the kind that shatters the ground, Dragon Ball Z style. And third, is the effect displayed on her sword. The effect perfectly captures the arc her swing creates, but the sculptor didn't stop there. We also get a beautiful swirl of power surrounding the blade. Like we said, this is a truly action-packed and powerful version of our girl, Illya. And we love it.

Finally, we wanted to take a little time to talk about this cat. Let's face it, if we're going to make Illya a cute magical girl, why not take it a step further and make her a neko girl as well? The position of her arms, her paws, her tail, the look on her face. Absolutely adorable. Now, we know what you're thinking. How can you make a loli wear something so lewd? But you have to remember that Illya just looks young. In Fate/Stay Night , she's actually 18 and even older than Shirou. But then you say, wait. Isn't that from the Prisma Ilya universe instead?! That's when we stop thinking and just appreciate the cute cat girl.
