A Look at Ishtar Figures - Fate

A look at the Ishtar (Fate) figures

Ishtar, the goddess of Venus, the ruler of the sky, demands your worship! No, it's not Rin Tohsaka in Halloween disguise, but it's Rin possessed in Fate/Grand Order , and we assure you, it's not as confusing as it sounds.

To give this character some context, in legend, Ishtar is the ancient Mesopotamian goddess of the harvest, war, lust, discord, beauty, and fertility. It's an impressive list. You'd think she'd be extremely busy and hardworking as the goddess of so many giant abstract concepts. But surprisingly, she has a lot of time to play around, at least in the Nasuverse. She's a free spirit, a wild card, and to Gilgamesh, a nuisance. She's willing to connect with tons of people, both human and divine. So when someone like Gilgamesh rejects her, prepare to get seriously triggered. But don't worry! She may be spoiled, but she's not all that terrible. Like we said, she's possessed by Rin, so there's a bit of humanity in her. And luckily for us, Rin's virtue of patience rubs off on her. Beyond that, there's more to love about Ishtar. For one thing, her character design is absolutely stunning. And when she's placed on her bow, Maana, the picture is complete. Ishtar's illustrator, Shidzuki Morii, carefully considered the look of her Noble Phantasm, much to our delight when it comes to Ishtar as a figure we can add to our collections! So let's take a moment to swoon over some Ishtar collectibles. Hopefully, with the success of Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demon Front: Babylon having just begun its first season at the time of writing, we can expect to see even more Ishtar figures appear. In the meantime, let's take a look back at what's already been offered on TOM's store!

Fate/Grand Order Archer/Ishtar 1/7 Scale Figure
Let's start with this absolute gem of a figure from Aniplex originally released in late 2018. She was sculpted by Design Coco, based on the artwork for Ishtar's card in the game, Fate/Grand Order. It's one thing to see the close-up of Ishtar depicted on the card when you're playing, and another completely different thing when you can admire her from every angle in 1/7 scale. She's presented with a confident look in her eyes that only a goddess can muster in battle. But again, the massive, ostentatious weapon at her side kind of reinforces this point. You're not just in the presence of an old god—you're in the presence of the goddess of war and beauty. So don't let that lithe, slender body fool you—she's got some serious Hulk-level strength at her disposal. From the angle of her body, Maana, and the upward flow of her hair, you get the impression that she's descending from high in the air about to land, dramatically. Hopefully, you won't be so impressed that you forget to dodge that landing. But if this goddess were to crush you beneath her feet, what a great way to go, right?! We also love all aspects of Maana. For example, the way the gold lines curve throughout. The vibrancy of the gold against the bright blue paint. And a giant bow needs a giant arrow—it's so big it looks like a sword in Ishtar's hand! Now for the downside—a few people who own the figure have commented that parts of it are simply too heavy to be properly supported by the stand. Hopefully if this beauty is ever reproduced, they will take these comments into account and give it the support beams Ishtar demands!

4-inch Archer/Ishtar from Nel Fate/Grand Order
We know that action figures usually rule the anime action figure market, but in this case, Sentinel's 4 Inch Nel line has hit the jackpot with an incredible Ishtar figure! As the brand's name would have you believe, Ishtar stands about 4-5 inches tall, which makes the details they've incorporated into her all the more impressive. Just like the previous figure, this Ishtar comes with the bow, Maana, and it's much taller than Ishtar herself. But each section of Maana is designed to look like she's flying with its own dedicated support beams (which no one is complaining about). And these stands are also articulated. With the stand that lifts Ishtar combined, you can create countless poses and angles for the entire figure. You can make it look like Ishtar is at the top of her bow, firing it like a boss, aiming it horizontally—hell, you can make it look like she's holding it with one hand to smash it onto another figure's head! The possibilities are endless!

Nendoroid Fate/Grand Order Archer/Ishtar Figure
Last but not least, this is the cutest figure we've talked about in this article, by far. That's right, it's Nendo's little Ishtar! We can just imagine a squeaky little voice coming out of her demanding that Gilgamesh marry her! While Maana is still taller than Ishtar, she's been significantly scaled down. What this figure has over the others is multiple facial expressions that capture her highly emotional nature. There's a lot of cute blushing on her cheeks in at least two of these face plates. Another awesome feature is a part that makes it look like we've frozen time right when Ishtar fires her bow at super speed!
