Akaza - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Akaza (猗窩座 Akaza) is a member of the Twelve Demon Moons, Upper Moon Three, and was called Hakuji when he was human in Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) . In his demon form, Akaza is a very muscular but thin man with very pale skin. His body is covered in thick blue lines that are similar to the criminal tattoos he had when he was human. He has three curved lines on either side of his face that cross his eyes, as well as a straight line from the top of his head to the bridge of his nose. Each of his fingers and toes is also colored blue with orange nails. Akaza has short pink hair and yellow eyes with blue-colored sclera, the kanji for Upper Moon Three written on his irises. Akaza wears a sleeveless light purple haori with a square pattern on the back and is cut at the waist that is left open to show off his chest. He has loose white pants rolled up below his knees and tied at the hips with a blue tie and red tassels. He goes barefoot and has large beads tied around his ankles.

As a human, his appearance was very similar: instead of being pink, his hair was black, his eyes were pale blue, and he wore a dark blue yukata. On each of his forearms, he had three thick black lines indicating that he was a criminal who stole.

"I thought he would just come between you and me."

History

Hakuji was born and raised in the slums to an ailing father. Hakuji cared deeply for his father and picked pockets to pay for his father's medicine, but he was caught three times. When he was caught, he was branded with tattoos and beaten. He was only 11 years old, but was able to withstand the beatings and was given the name "Demon Child." When Hakuji returned after being caught the third time, his father hanged himself and left a letter saying that he wanted Hakuji to live a legitimate life and that he would not accept medicine if it was earned by pickpockets. Despairing over his father's death, he fights everyone and is eventually taken in by Keizo, a dojo leader. He becomes close to Keizo and his daughter Koyuki, who later becomes his fiancée. The two are later poisoned by a kendo group frustrated that they cannot beat him. In a fit of rage, Hakuji kills all 67 students with his bare hands. Muzan Kibutsuji appears, wondering what happens to the appearance of a demon he has no knowledge of, and transforms Hakuji into a demon. As an Akaza, he loses his memory of being a human and becomes powerful enough to achieve the status of Upper Moon Three. He is then beheaded by Tanjiro Kamado.
and loses the will to fight after regaining his memories of his time as a human and dies.

Personality

Akaza is a powerful demon who respects strength and enjoys fighting, especially powerful demon slayers. If the demon slayers were particularly strong, then out of respect for their strength and believing it was a waste of their talents, he would offer to transform them into demons. On the other hand, he had no respect for the weak. He despised them and even tried to kill the weak and injured first, believing they would hinder his fight against stronger enemies. Akaza did not get along with the Upper Moons, viewing them as rivals and lashing out at them, vowing to kill them.

As a human, Hakuji was stubborn but kind-hearted, wanting to become stronger so he could protect his loved ones. Even after becoming a demon and losing his human memories, parts of Hakuji's thoughts continued to influence him not to eat or kill women, even though he knew it would make him stronger.
