Android 18 - Dragon Ball
Android 18 is a young woman with shoulder-length blonde hair and clothing featuring the red ribbon army logo. While seemingly cold and often unimpressed, unlike her future counterpart, Android 18 is actually capable of compassion and has a softer side. This is slightly different when it comes to Goku , however, as she was created to kill him. She plays a major role in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super . In Dragon Ball GT , however, appearances are very limited in comparison. During the Android Saga, she is accompanied by Androids 16 and 17. Afterward, she is mostly seen with Krillin . 18 is voiced entirely in Japanese by Miki Ito.
Appearances in Dragon Ball Z
In Dragon Ball Z, Android 18 is awakened along with her brother, Android 17, by Dr. Gero after Android 19 is demolished by Vegeta . Upon awakening, they refuse to listen to Dr. Gero's orders and quickly turn on him before activating the giant, but peaceful Android 16. Android 18 sets out with her brother and Android 16 to locate and destroy Son Goku according to their programming. They encounter the Z Fighters and quickly defeat them all, including Super Saiyan Future Trunks and Vegeta. Android 18 outclasses Super Saiyan Vegeta so much that she ends the fight by breaking both of his arms. She kisses Krillin on the cheek before leaving with the other two androids.
While flying, they find a food truck and 17 decides that driving would be more interesting than flying, though 16 disagrees. While driving, 17 suddenly stops the car and gets out with 18. He asks 18 if she felt any pressure in the air, to which she agrees before Android 16 tells them that the pressure was coming from near West City and that two powerful fighters are fighting. Android 17 asks who, but 16 does not know the fighters' identities as they are not in his databank. He claims, however, that one of the fighters is as strong as Android 17, to which Android 17 sternly refuses, stating that no one is as strong as him. Shortly after, the androids reach Master Roshi's house and find Goku. Piccolo takes the androids in hopes that he can defeat them after fusing with Kami.
Unfortunately, Cell arrives and interrupts the fight between Piccolo and 17. After much struggle and Krillin's reluctance to deactivate 18, Cell manages to absorb him with the help of Vetega and achieves his perfect form. Later, during the fight, Son Gohan, Perfect Cell, receives a critical blow to the abdomen, causing him to spit out Android 18 and revert to his imperfect form. Android 18 is nursed back to health by Krillin for the remainder of the battle and later taken to Kami's watch station. Krillin uses the crystal balls to wish for 18 and 17 to return to their human forms, which Sharon is unable to do, so Krillin wishes for the bombs inside them to be removed. 18, though visibly flattered and perhaps a little embarrassed, reveals herself and tells Krillin that they are not lovers. She tells Krillin "I'll see you later" and leaves Kami's watch post.
Seven years later, it is revealed that Android 18 and Krillin have married and have a three-year-old daughter named Marron. Android 18's family is peaceful and fairly normal (until she gets angry). Android 18 and Krillin participate in the 25th World Martial Arts Tournament, where she ends up being pitted against Mr. Satan and Mighty Mask. When Mr. Satan realizes he has no chance of winning, Android 18 agrees to let him win for double the tournament's prize money. After the tournament, she, along with everyone else at Kami's Lookout, goes into hiding from Majin Buu. She is killed along with everyone else when Buu turns her and Marron into chocolate and eats them. She is brought back with everyone else and helps energize Goku so his Spirit Bomb can defeat Buu.
Appearances in Dragon Ball Super
In Dragon Ball Super , Beerus ' invasion during Bulma 's birthday party saw the powerful god attack a young Gotenks . This upsets Android 18 and leads her to launch an attack against the God of Destruction, which is completely ineffective. Following Frieza's resurrection, she is killed after Earth explodes, but is revived when Whis goes back in time. Goku later invites her to join the team for the Universe Survival Tournament. At first, she declines, stating that she doesn't work for free and has her daughter to take care of. However, when Goku mentions the prize money, she is eager to join the match. While watching Krillin and Goku train for the event, she realizes, thanks to their seriousness, that this event was something more than just a prize tournament and decides to train with Krillin in preparation for the event. With his help, Android 17 also joins the team. She defeats several strong fighters, working well with her husband Krillin, but after his elimination, she teams up with her brother Android 17. With her brother's help, they manage to defeat Ribrianne of Universe 2. Android 18 is eliminated when she jumps off the stage to save 17 as he falls.
Appearances in Dragon Ball GT
In Dragon Ball GT , she appears to confront Android 17 and Super 17 in an attempt to save Goku. Later, she attempts to persuade a fused 17 to come to his senses and stop his merciless attack on Goku, but fails. She is reassured by Goku after Krillin's death that he will be resurrected.
Powers and abilities
As an android, 18 possesses an infinite energy core and cellular enhancements. This allows her to have super strength, super speed, and the ability to fly. However, she is still able to reproduce as her reproductive organs have not been removed or altered. Her main techniques include:
- Explosive Wave - A blast of ki emitted by the user to inflict damage in the surrounding area.
- Finger Beam - A ki beam fired from the tip of the index finger.
- High Pressure Energy Wave - This attack is similar to the Kamehameha and Galick Gun.
- Infinity Bullet - A ki blast capable of firing multiple beams from its hands. A one-handed variant is famously used against Super 17.
Family
- Krillin - Husband.
- Brown - Girl.
- Android 17 – Brother.
