History of the Angel Beats series!

Angel Beats! is a fantasy anime series set in a high school in the afterlife. The high school serves as a kind of limbo where people who suffered trauma during their lifetime go to overcome their difficulties. After overcoming these difficulties, they are allowed to move on and be reincarnated. The story follows an amnesiac boy, Yuzuru Otonashi, as he enters the afterlife. There, he meets Yuri Nakamura, who asks him to join the Afterlife Battlefront to fight alongside her. This group was created by Yuri herself and was meant to punish an unseen God for their unjust lives. Otonashi joins the Afterlife Battlefront and helps fight Angel, who is said to be in league with the unseen God.

The story of Angel Beats! was originally created by Jun Maeda, who also wrote the script and composed the music for the anime series. The anime was produced by PA Works and Aniplex and directed by Seiji Kishi. It originally aired from April 3, 2010, to June 26, 2010. There was also an original video animation (OVA) episode released in December 2010, as well as a second OVA released in June 2015.
