Background
First published as a web novel, Arifureta: From Ordinary to World's Strongest is a Japanese light novel series written by Ryo Shirakome (白米 良) and illustrated by Takayaki that began in 2013. It also has a manga adaptation that began serializing on Overlap Comic Gardo. The series' website has been live since 2016. Both are still ongoing. Additionally, an audio drama has been released and another will be released in April 2018. An anime adaptation is also scheduled to air in 2019. The series has been licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment. The novels are licensed in English by J-Novel Club. The series ranked as the 27th best-selling light novel series in the first half of 2017, with 84,372 copies sold.
Synopsis
Hajime Nagumo is a typical 17-year-old otaku until his entire class is summoned to a fantasy world and treated as heroes, tasked with protecting humanity from extinction. While the rest of his class is granted divine magical powers, Hajime can only perform one transmutation as a Synergist. To top it all off, he is left for dead during a dungeon raid. Will he survive not only the ridicule of his classmates, but also his weakness in a dangerous world of monsters?

Anime adaptation
White Fox is handling the anime adaptation, which was originally scheduled for release in 2019 but was delayed in April 2018. It will air on Tokyo MX, AT-X, and possibly other networks. As of February 2018, no international broadcast has been announced.
