Synopsis
Written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, Attack on Titan is a dark, post-apocalyptic fantasy series set in a world overrun by Titans who brutally attack and hunt humans. In an effort to survive, humans retreat into high walls until one day the so-called Colossal Titan finally breaches the tallest of these walls, setting off a chain of events that leads humanity to retreat even further into the walls until they have no choice but to do everything they can to fight back.
Leading the charge is the Survey Corps, a group of soldiers carrying out the most dangerous missions as they venture outside the walls to study and fight the Titans while trying to expand humanity's territory, and the story centers on Survey Corps soldiers Eren, Mikasa, and Armin.

Characters
Eren Yeager (Japanese: Yuki Kaji | English: Bryce Papenbrook)
Eren Yeager, the main protagonist of the series, devotes his life to eliminating all Titans after witnessing his mother being devoured by one. Although he isn't at the top of his class, he thrives in his cadet class and graduates in fifth place before joining the dangerous special operations squad, the Survey Corps.
Although he has yet to learn why, Eren possesses the ability to transform into an extremely powerful Titan that thrives in combat. Because of this ability, he has been rejected, kidnapped, and coveted, and he desperately tries to use it to achieve his goal of eliminating the Titans.
Mikasa Ackerman (Japanese: Yui Ishikawa | English: Trina Nishimura)
Eren's childhood friend, Mikasa Ackerman, is a quiet and bright young woman whose parents were murdered by slave traders when she was little. She is saved by Eren, who fights them to protect her, and she eventually lives and grows up alongside him. As a result, she is very loving and protective of Eren.
Her abilities surpass even Eren's, and she graduates at the top of her cadet class. The other officers consider her a prodigy for her combat skills, and it truly shows, and all of that talent is devoted entirely to protecting Eren.
Armin Arlert (Japanese: Marina Inoue | English: Josh Grelle)
Armin, another of Eren's childhood friends, has always been shy and weak, but he truly shines with his intelligence and curiosity. He has always wanted to see beyond the walls and was inspired by Eren's confidence, which led him to find his own strength.
Among his strengths, his strategic talent must be highlighted. Despite his physical weakness, he is a genius at combat strategy and is often the reason for his group's success. He also cares deeply for his friends.
Jean Kirstein (Japanese: Kisho Taniyama | English: Mike McFarland)
Jean, a troublemaker, initially joined his cadet class with the goal of joining the Military Police to enjoy a safe and peaceful life on Wall Sheena. He is also competent, graduating sixth in his class. However, after the death of his friend Marco, he joins the Survey Corps alongside Eren and the others.
Sasha Blouse (Japanese: Yu Kobayashi | English: Ashly Burch)
Best known for her love of potatoes, Sasha is a hunter with extraordinary instincts who is inspired by Eren's determination, which leads her to join the Survey Corps. She often went hungry growing up because she had difficulty finding food, which led her to a complete lack of control over food, going so far as to steal it.
Krista Lenz (Japanese: Shiori Mikami | English: Bryn Apprill)
Petite, cute, and sweet, the charming Krista Lenz is adored by everyone around her. She also did well as an intern, graduating 10th at the end of her studies. But she's also a girl of many mysteries...
Connie Springer (Japanese: Hiro Shimono | English: Clifford Chapin)
Despite his small stature, Connie Springer is energetic, optimistic, and courageous. He performed well in his training, ranking eighth at graduation, but chose the Survey Corps over the Military Police, just like the others, after hearing Eren's speech about eliminating the Titans.
Levi (Japanese: Hiroshi Kamiya | English: Matthew Mercer)
One of the most popular characters in the series, Levi is humanity's strongest soldier and the leader of the elite Survey Corps squad. In addition to being an incredibly skilled soldier, he is also extremely clean and disciplined. Eren has a great deal of respect and admiration for him.
Erwin Smith (Japanese: Daisuke Ono | English: J. Michael Tatum)
Erwin is the commander of the Survey Corps and bravely leads the team on the most dangerous missions. He and Levi understand and trust each other well.
Hans Zoé (Japanese: Romi Park | English: Jessica Calvello)
Perhaps the most eccentric character in the Survey Corps, Hans is a squad leader and scientist with a deep love for Titans and believes they have the ability to think, giving each Titan a unique personality.
