Blackbeard vs. Boa: Who Would Win in a Fight?
Blackbeard vs. Boa: Who Would Win in a Fight?

One Piece is an anime that certainly has its share of strong and powerful characters. While we usually use Luffy for these comparisons, this one will be a little different. Blackbeard is known as one of the biggest nuisances in the One Piece franchise, and we honestly doubt there's anyone who likes him. Not only is he responsible for the deaths of Ace and Whitebeard, but he also has a very unlikeable personality. On the other hand, Boa Hancock is a fan favorite, not only because of her relationship with Luffy, but also because she's a badass character herself. In this article, we'll compare Blackbeard and Boa to see who would win in a fight.
Blackbeard is stronger than Boa Hancock thanks mainly to his two Devil Fruits, one he previously possessed and the other he stole from the late Whitebeard. Without them, this duel would be more evenly matched, but due to Blackbeard's inherent advantage, Boa Hancock wouldn't stand much of a chance when Blackbeard started to fight seriously.
The rest of this article will expand on the answer given above, as we'll compare Blackbeard and Boa Hancock in more detail. Across several categories, you'll see who is the stronger of the two and why our answer is the way it is—that is, why Blackbeard would ultimately be able to defeat Boa Hancock if they had fought one-on-one.
Physical powers
Teach has incredible endurance, as shown when he took an Earthquake blow from Whitebeard squarely to the face and neck without losing consciousness, especially since his Devil Fruit allows him to take even more damage. He also withstood a direct hit from the Murakumogiri without taking any lasting damage and was able to withstand a kick to the head from the supernova Jewelry Bonney.
During his fight with Ace, he was injured in the chest by two fire spears, but after extinguishing the flames, he was able to shake off the impact of the attack (albeit with the help of his logia powers). Another indication of his endurance is that he received a furious attack from Luffy using Gear Second and was hit by Sengoku in his daibutsu form, leaving with minor injuries both times.
Teach also possesses tremendous physical strength, demonstrated when he severely injures both Luffy and Ace with a single blow, sending them both colliding with incredible force and distance, even drawing blood, despite Ace being fire and Luffy being rubber (though both times he did not allow them to use their powers).

Boa's raw strength is very great, evidently showing signs of superhuman strength as she can shatter stone (in the form of her petrified enemies) with a single kick, able to shatter several Pacifistas without injury (while Sanji almost broke his leg doing the same thing, even though he used his powers to turn them to stone) and being able to kick Smoker in his smoke state with her Hak.
She has proven herself highly skilled in close-quarters combat, often in conjunction with her Devil Fruit abilities. She has been able to effortlessly defeat many New World pirates. Much like Sanji's fighting style, Hancock seems to prefer kicking to attacking. While she is stronger in close-quarters combat, Hancock is also adept at long-range combat and is able to use her Devil Fruit powers to attack enemies from a great distance.
Hancock is also very intelligent and cunning when the situation calls for it, being able to buy Luffy time using her charms after hearing Magellan's plan to stop the infiltration, as well as stealing the key to Ace's handcuffs for Luffy before he arrived, knowing it would be useful to him.
In terms of physical powers, Blackbeard is more of a character who can take a punch than deliver one, due to his size. Now, with such great defensive abilities, he is able to withstand Boa's attacks, but he wouldn't be able to defeat her, which is why we decided to share the points here.
Points: Blackbeard 1, Boa Hancock 1
Devil Fruit
Blackbeard ate the Yami Yami no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit. This fruit allows the user to transform into, control darkness, and absorb anything they wish. It is a very powerful fruit that can negate the power of another Devil Fruit, much like the Sea Granite. It can pull any Devil Fruit holder into a vortex, allowing it to strike them even if the enemy fruit is a Logia-type fruit.
It's easy to understand why Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, came to Whitebeard to tell him that Ace shouldn't go looking for Blackbeard. After the events of Impel Down, Blackbeard went to Marineford and killed Whitebeard, who was already seriously injured. After killing Whitebeard, he hid himself and Whitebeard's body under a sheet.
He emerges with the power of tremor, making him the wielder of two Devil Fruit powers, a feat considered impossible. It is still unknown how he managed to steal it, nor do we know how Teach can wield both powers. According to Marco, this is due to a peculiar and abnormal structure of his body.
Hancock ate the Mero Mero no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows its user to petrify anyone in love with her with lightning bolts erupting from their hands. Anyone with "dirty thoughts" turns to stone, but this can be blocked by people using emotional techniques, such as fear or pain, or simply by ignorance.
Aside from that, she has the same standard weaknesses as all Devil Fruit users. As part of the secrecy to keep the shame of her secret behind her, Hancock tricked the Kuja tribe into believing that the power to turn people into stone was a curse he gave her for killing a Gorgon monster.
Given that Blackbeard possesses two Devil Fruits, both extremely powerful, he is superior to Boa Hancock in this category, and therefore we have to give this point to the pirate captain.

RIGHT
Teach can use two of the three types of Haki. He can use Observation Haki, being able to measure Luffy's strength twice, and his latent Haki. Teach can use Armament Haki, but his prowess is unknown.
Boa Hancock is one of the few people who can use all types of Haki. As a Kuja, she naturally knows how to use both main forms of Haki: Observation Haki and Armament Haki; she was able to hit Smoker, a Logia-type user, during the Battle of Marineford. Kuja are also known for their advanced Haki skills. She also uses Haoshoku no Haki (called Royal Haki), an ability that only one in a million people can use. However, her skill level is currently unknown, as she has never been seen using it before.
Since Boa Hancock is capable of using all three types of Haki, while Blackbeard can only use two, we have to award this point to Princess Kuja.

Weapons
When he was younger, Teach used claws on his right hand, seen with larger claws and now also on his left hand when the Whitebeard Pirates began protecting Fish-Man Island. He was seen carrying a flintlock when he delivered the killing blow to Whitebeard along with the rest of his gang, and he also has three pistols strapped to his belt.
His accuracy with them is not fully demonstrated, as he was only seen emptying his ammunition into a critically wounded Whitebeard at point-blank range, an attack the Emperor resisted for a short time.
She carries with her an extremely large, white snake with red markings named Salome, who wears a skull with blue hair and constantly smiles. Hancock uses it as a seat and as a means of transportation. It also has the ability to track objects moving underwater; this was demonstrated when it was able to detect Whitebeard's earthquake before it arrived and when it helped Hancock track Trafalgar Law's submarine. Although it is a snake weapon, Hancock has not yet been seen using it to fight, as other Kuja do.
Boa Hancock's only weapon isn't really a weapon, and she relies heavily on her combat skills. Since Blackbeard has been seen using a weapon or two, we'll give him the last point.

Blackbeard vs. Boa Hancock: Who Would Win?
Ultimately, we simply had to declare Blackbeard the winner here. While the fearsome pirate captain won by a single point, points aren't really a realistic representation of his powers and abilities in this aspect. Namely, we concluded that Blackbeard could withstand Boa's attacks but probably couldn't defeat her in the fist (or leg); Boa Hancock's offense is incredible, but Blackbeard is a defensive beast.
Boa also knows all three types of Haki, which gives her a slight advantage over Blackbeard, and it's possible that Blackbeard isn't much better at using weapons than Boa. Ultimately, it would come down to their Devil Fruits. Boa's Devil Fruit is powerful, there's no denying that, but its effects are limited to those who fall in love with her; and while this is very difficult to avoid, since she's really attractive, knowing Blackbeard, he really doesn't care about Boa.
Blackbeard is a true villain and someone who is narcissistic enough to be immune to Boa's Devil Fruit, rendering him useless. On the other hand, Blackbeard's two Devil Fruits make him one of the most powerful and dangerous characters in the entire series. We haven't seen him reach his full potential yet, but from what we generally know, Blackbeard is a potential monster.
And that's why Boa Hancock wouldn't stand much of a chance in a serious one-on-one fight against Blackbeard. He'd simply use his Devil Fruits and defeat her with relative ease, which is why we gave him this victory.
