Battle of Trost District Arc - Attack on Titan

The Trost District Battle Arc is the second story arc to take place (chronologically) in Season 1 of the Attack on Titan anime series. It spans episodes 5 to 13, for a total of nine episodes. It is also the second story arc of the Attack on Titan manga , spanning chapters 3 to 14.

Also called The Fight for Trost District , this arc takes place five years after the first episodes of the season, following the graduation of Eren Jaeger None, Mikasa Ackermann , and Armin Arlelt and the rest of the 104th Training Corps None.

Trost District Battle Arc Part 1

Season 1, Episode 5 – “First Battle: The Fight for Trost, Part 1”

The Colossal Titan manages to destroy the Trost District's cannons and disappears in a massive cloud of steam before Eren can attack. Mikasa Ackermann helps evacuate the district's citizens, while Eren and Armin Arlelt stay behind and try to help kill the Titans now inside the wall.

Eren saves Armin from being eaten by a Titan, throwing himself in its grasp, his arm severed by the Titan's bite, and then swallowed.

Season 1, Episode 6 – “The World the Girl Saw: The Fight for Trost, Part 2”

Armin heads to the rearguard with Connie Springer None Krista Lenz , and Ymir Meanwhile, an Abnormal Titan heads towards the city's back gate, which is crowded with refugees. A wealthy merchant blocks the way, demanding that his cargo be let through first. Mikasa solves the problem by letting the refugees through. She recalls memories from a year before the fall of Wall Maria (in 844), when her parents were killed by three slave traders. Eren and his father, Grisha Jaeger, were nearby and killed two of them after finding his parents' corpses, but the third began strangling Eren, forcing Mikasa to kill the last slave trader. After that, she was adopted by Carla and Grisha Jaeger. In the present, she kills the Abnormal Titan.

Season 1, Episode 7 – “Small Blade: The Fight for Trost, Part 3”

The surviving squads' supplies are dwindling, and they are about to admit defeat when the nearby supply depot is invaded by Titans. Mikasa learns of Eren's death but accepts the news calmly and leads an attack to reclaim the supply depot. She runs out of fuel for her equipment and falls into an alley. Before she can be eaten by a Titan, another kills it. A mysterious Titan helps the Reconnaissance Regiment fight the other Titans, rescue them, and reclaim the supply depot.

Battle of Trost District, Part 4

Season 1, Episode 8 – “I Hear His Heartbeat: The Fight for Trost District, Part 4”

Jean Kirstein leads the cadets to Trost HQ, and the mysterious Titan follows. It continues to kill more Titans outside, while the cadets discuss a strategy to enter the supply room. They resupply in time to see the mysterious Titan collapse from exhaustion, and Eren Jaeger emerge from its neck, unharmed.

Season 1, Episode 9 – “Where Is His Left Arm: The Fight for Trost District, Part 5”

The Reconnaissance Regiment, on a mission outside the walls, hears about the Trost District, and their commander , Erwin Smith, brings them back to help. Meanwhile, Captain Levi Ackermann asks Eren how he is still alive. Eren tries to convince them that he is still human and could be controlling the Titan from within. Captain Levi remains doubtful and orders the artillery team to fire on Eren and his friends. Eren then transforms into a partial Titan, his ribcage protecting them. Eren remembers being injected by his father again.

Season 1, Episode 10 – “Response: The Fight for Trost, Part 6”

Armin risks his life to defend Eren's innocence. Commander Dot Pyxis, the garrison's senior officer, arrives and stops the attack, deciding to follow Armin's plan to seal Wall Rose with a massive boulder, using Eren's Titan form. Eren agrees, even though he is unsure if he will be able to transform again.

Season 1, Episode 11 – “Idol: The Fight for Trost, Part 7”

Commander Pyxis instructs his troops to follow the plan to seal Wall Rose, but they remain hesitant, wanting to return to their families. Pyxis convinces them to stay, telling them that Eren is a secret human project. Eren manages to transform, but immediately attacks Mikasa.

Battle of Trost District, Part 8

Season 1, Episode 12 – “The Wound: The Fight for Trost, Part 8”

Eren's attack causes panic among the garrison, split between defense and offense. Armin speaks to Eren as he cuts his Titan's neck, reminding Eren of his objective. With Eren's will over the Titan renewed, he begins carrying the boulder to the Wall.

Season 1, Episode 13 – “Primordial Desire: The Fight for Trost, Part 9”

As the cadets kill the last of the Titans and capture two for research, the Trost soldiers watch as Eren uses the rock to seal Wall Rose. Eren is then arrested, and after Captain Levi and Commander Erwin listen to his full story, Levi allows Eren to rejoin his squad.
