Bungo Stray Dogs - Figures

While classic literature can be considered boring, the creator of Bungo Stray Dogs has given the names of famous authors an exciting new form. The manga, which features young adult characters inspired by classic Japanese authors, debuted in 2012. The supernatural mystery elements captivated fans and critics alike, but it's the relatable characters that keep fans coming back for more. Later arcs feature humorous and sometimes wicked portrayals of American authors like F. Scott Fitzgerald. But the main cast, especially the lead duo of Atsushi Nakajima and Osamu Dazai, has the largest fan base. Figures of these characters are in high demand, but fortunately, some manufacturers are reissuing popular items. Here are three of the most popular figures and characters from Bungo Stray Dogs: the "Nendoroid Re-Run Osamu Dazai", the "Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple Akutagawa Ryunosuke 1/8 Scale Figure" and the "Pop Up Parade Atsushi Nakajima".

Nendoroid Osamu Dazai figure from Bungo Stray Dogs

Nendoroid figures are popular due to the cute, chibi versions of popular characters and the variety of poses and expressions they offer. Paired with the favorite Bungo Stray Dogs character, Osamu Dazai makes for an incredibly popular figure. The figure features his classic trench coat outfit and effect accessories for his "No Longer Human" ability. Dazai's mischievous grin and carefree smile are among the face plates that capture the character's complex personality. The figure also includes a poseable figure for Dazai trying to drown himself. For fans who appreciate him alive, Dazai can be posed in a leaning, relaxed position, reading his suicide guide book. As a fan favorite, there are many Dazai figures to choose from. However, the Nendoroid captures his spirit in a cute and well-made package that will allow fans to interact with the charismatic suicide enthusiast.

Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple Akutagawa Ryunosuke (1/8 Scale Figure)

This figure depicts one of the series' antagonists, Akutagawa Ryunosuke, as he appears in the film Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple. His long black coat and ruffled shirt are handcrafted with a high level of detail. This attention to detail continues on an interchangeable left arm that allows fans to switch between discreet but iconic poses. Critics note that the style is a near-perfect replica of the film's artwork. Fans of the villain-turned-temporary ally against the thugs' supernatural abilities love the simple yet thoughtful construction of a scale figure. Akutagawa is adorable in his chibi form, but the serious figure based on the film suits him well.

Bungo Stray Dogs Atsushi Nakajima Pop Up Parade Figure

The Orange Rouge Pop-Up Parade line allows fans to collect more figures at a low price. While not to scale, this Atsushi Nakajima figure still features a high level of detail on the clothing, a hand-painted facial expression, and a carefully selected pose. The partially open shirt may be fanservice, but could also be based on Atsushi's ability: Under the Moonlight. His focused expression and hand, outstretched as if to warn others, suggest that he will soon transform into a weretiger. Despite being the main character, Atsushi lacks scale and non-chibi figures—most of the more detailed figures depict Dazai. This new Pop-Up figure gives Atsushi the representation he deserves as the star of Bungo Stray Dogs.
