Synopsis

It's summer vacation, but instead of going home, five university students and members of the occult society have planned a special mission. In search of a hidden treasure from the Tokugawa era, the gang has managed to sneak into the university vaults. What they find, however, isn't gold but two perfectly preserved female mummies!

Sayaka Kamoshida, who sneaked into the vault to fit in with her friends, spots a mysterious jewel on one of the bodies and steals it. Disappointed at not finding any gold, the gang members escape, but the theft of the jewel will have profound consequences for them all.

Resurrected by dark magic, former noblewoman Euphrosyne Studion and her servant Alma V decide to hunt down the occultists and recover the jewel. Why did Sayaka steal it in the first place, and will the students survive?

Anime adaptation

Zombie Girl's Calamity is an adaptation of Ryo Ikehata's light novel series. Kadokawa first announced the anime adaptation with a trailer in 2012, but no further information was released until it was confirmed on April 13, 2018, that the anime would be an ONA produced by Gonzo and Stingray. The ONA was released for streaming on July 4, 2018, and is being distributed worldwide by Crunchyroll.

Characters

Studio Euphrosyne (Voice of: Saori Hayami)

The daughter of a noble family, Euphrosyne Studion was turned into a zombie by dark magic and was awakened from her hundred-year slumber when Sayaka stole the jewel.

Alma V (Voiced by: Yui Ogura)

Alma V is an android created by Euphrosyne's father to serve his daughter. She was transformed into a zombie by the same dark magic as Euphrosyne, and while not as strong as her mistress, Alma V possesses the ability to take the form of those she has devoured.

Shuichiro Takanashi (Voice of: Tomokazu Sugita)

Shuichiro Takanashi is a university professor and uses the labs for experiments during summer vacation.

Mako Takanashi (Voice of: Ryoko Shiraishi)

Mako Takanashi is Shuichiro Takanashi's younger sister. During summer vacation, she comes to visit her brother at the lab.

Sayaka Kamoshida (Voice of: Miyuki Sawashiro)

Sayaka Kamoshida is a first-year research student and member of the occult society. She also has a crush on Professor Shuichiro Takanashi. She is the one who stole the jewel and awakened Euphrosyne Studion.

Masahiro Abe (Voice of: Tatsuhisa Suzuki)

Masahiro Abe is a second-year student and member of the occult society. He was the one who came up with the idea to sneak into the vault and search for the treasure. Most girls hate him because of his self-centered attitude.

Yui Minagawa (Voice of: MAO)

Second-year undergraduate Yui Minagawa is also a member of an occult group and loves physical activity. In fact, she's also learning Chinese martial arts.

Noriko Sudo (Voice of: Yurika Kubo)

Noriko Sudo is a member of the Occult Club and a second-year university student.

Hiroshi Azuma (Voice of: Takahiro Miwa)

Hiroshi Azuma is a second-year student and a great otaku with extreme lock-picking skills.

Miyake (Voiced by: Mugihito)

Miyake is in charge of the university's dormitories.
