Carnival Phantasm: Episode Summary 7-12 - Fate

Episode 7: An Expert Gift

Back in Ahnenerbe, the Neco-Arcs enjoy some delicious ramen. Meanwhile, Shiki Tohno makes a batch of noodles for Arcueid Brunestud, who is extremely impressed and decides she should try other normal human foods like okonomiyaki. While it sounds amazing, Arcueid feels a little guilty that Shiki always cooks her delicious food while she never makes anything for him. Arcueid has never cooked anything before, but figures that if Ciel can do it, then probably anyone can. Taking things seriously, she decides to get the freshest ingredients possible by plucking squid from the icy seas, biting into them raw to check the flavor. For the best okonomiyaki, however, she always needs pork, and who better to ask for it than "Beast Master" Nrvnqsr "Nero" Chaos / Fabro Rowan. Unfortunately, she still has a lot to learn when it comes to cooking!

Noting that the best ingredient is love, the guys at Ahnenerbe launch us into a "grown-up romance" in which Caster yearns to find love as a woman, pining for her master, Soichiro, who vows to protect her forever. Unfortunately, it's just a fantasy, but she continues to try to get his attention by acting like a stereotypical housewife and giving him romantic handmade gifts. Assassin gently teases her, while Soichiro receives a lot of (unwanted) good fortune thanks to Caster's gift. Admiring Saber's tsundere attitude toward Shiro, she decides she absolutely must catch him and dress him up in incredibly cute outfits, but she's bothered by his otaku obsession with another servant and vows to keep her mini shrine a secret so she can continue to present herself as a pure-hearted woman. Shinji reports her, but Soichiro doesn't care and has already bought a ring!

Episode 8: Saber at Work

After the Ahnenerbe guys have had some fun with a video camera, we cut to a nature documentary narrated by Shiro Emiya with "King of Knights" Saber as special commentator. "Saber Lion" wakes up in the jungle to enjoy another lazy day of snacking and dozing before Berserker arrives and tosses his Lancer like a tasty treat.

The segment turns out to be a short film made by Neco-Arc Evolution, after which the guys enjoy a tasty on-set catering service. Meanwhile, Saber decides to get a part-time job at Ahnenerbe, but everyone ends up bowing to the king even though she's just helping them. Rin Tohsaka arrives and orders coffee, but Saber orders her to order a meal because you can't fight on an empty stomach! The cafe starts doing well as Saber orders everyone to order more food, but runs into a problem when Gilgamesh arrives to antagonize his rival. He orders wine (which they don't serve) and threatens to raze the place if the food is bad, while Berserker also makes an appearance and goes berserk when he realizes they don't sell Jump magazine. Saber finally snaps when Gilgamesh tries to order her takeout, transforming into his darker Saber Alternate form. She chastises Gilgamesh for not finishing his meal, but later invites him out after his shift and earns the admiration of all the men in the room for her icy demeanor. As soon as she gets home and Shiro says hello, Saber immediately transforms and gives her a birthday present.

Red Saber makes an appearance in Tiger Dojo, though Taiga has no idea who she is.

Episode 9: Grand Prix of the Holy Grail

The Carnival continues! This time, a Grand Prix racing championship is taking place at the Fuyuki Circuit, with explanations from Kirei Kotomine and commentary from Taiga Fujimura. Saber objects to the indignity of the car racing events, but Shiro is in favor because at least no one is going to die. The cars are allocated by lot, with Rin Tohsaka and Archer getting a pink Cadillac, Soichiro and Caster getting an old-school "Unit Honeymoon" Rolls-Royce, Lancer getting the spear-shaped Gae-BolCar, Shinji and Rider receiving a "Unit Pegasus" grandma's motorcycle, Shiro and Saber receiving a stuffed lion, and Illya and Berserker "transforming" into the Berser-Car.

Lancer charges forward, but is quickly involved in an accident. Soichiro and Caster take a detour, while Assassin arrives in a truck to disrupt the race, knocking Saber and Shiro off course. Illya and Berserker begin firing at their competitors from a nearby cliff, but Gilgamesh arrives on a golden motorcycle to fend them off. Rider and Shinji launch into space with Gilgamesh and Rin/Archer neck and neck, but Saber and Shiro make an unexpected comeback to win the race! After winning the Holy Grail, they demand the money they spent during the race be returned.

Next up is the first installment of "Grail-kun"! Shinji complains to the sentient giant Grail that Gilgamesh isn't listening to him and is given a "Friendmaker" kitchen knife. In Tiger Dojo, Taiga parodies a campaign speech.

Episode 10: Loli Reversion

At Ahnenerbe, the Neco-Arcs prepare to welcome a special group of customers, but the cafe is quickly invaded by a crowd of unruly children. Meanwhile, Akiha complains that her brother hasn't gotten up for school. Kohaku suggests she wait a few more minutes and offers her a cup of tea made with herbs from the garden. When Shiki wakes up, Akiha seems upset and immediately hugs him. It turns out Kohaku laced her tea with something to make her a little more emotionally honest, but it backfired, and now she thinks she's four years old! Shiki has to take her to school with him, which presents a serious and extremely embarrassing problem when they need to use the restroom. Satsuki ends up helping them before Shiki piggybacks his sister home while singing the lullaby "Akatombo," during which she regains her senses.

Meanwhile, Hisui writes a mystery about a series of murders in a remote village, followed by another in the city where people are attacked by beams! Apparently, Lancer knew the truth but was murdered before he could speak out. In his third case, Brainwash's Inspector Hisui investigates a massive explosion on a luxury cruise ship that causes chaos and suspicion on board. It turns out that all the ship's passengers are actually related. The mystery continues to deepen until the ship reaches Atlantis, where the secrets are revealed.

In Grail-kun, Shiro complains that Archer told him he would never become a hero. Grail-kun gives him a "Hero Creation Kit" kitchen knife. Meanwhile, in Tiger Dojo, Taiga wants to know where she ranks in the hip-hop rankings.

Episode 11: Final Dead Throw

A serious accident occurs at Ahnenerbe, leading to a segment titled "Lancer's Final Death"! Lancer once again finds himself in the pirate pop-up barrel facing the onslaught of Gilgamesh's Noble Phantasm, just like in the first episode. Luckily, it was just a dream, or was it? Grail-kun arrives to warn him, questioning him about the dreams he's having in which he repeatedly dies. Apparently, he's the clown of this carnival, and history is about to kill him!

We then return to the Grand Prix, where Lancer crashes again but manages to survive. He is then fed to Saber Lion, but befriends her. He then survives the Berserker's attack, but can he survive Gilgamesh? Upon finding himself on the desolate battlefield, he discovers that the rocket Shiro escaped on is the true Holy Grail. Finally thinking he has beaten his fate, Lancer is struck in the face by the escaped volleyball from the girls' game and killed. A post-credits scene sees him dramatically rise from the grave that had been marked with a lollipop stick inscribed with the word "you lose."

Meanwhile, Tiger Dojo takes a trip back to the Showa era with Taiga as a teacher in a newsreel-style documentary.

Episode 12: Badump! Great Date Plan - Answer

The Ahnenerbe Neco-Arcs drink until the end of the Carnival before we jump into another episode of Grail-kun. Kirei Kotomine complains that Lancer is completely useless because he keeps dying every five seconds and asks Grail-kun to do something about it. Grail-kun gives him a "Servant Strengthening Device" kitchen knife and advises him to kill Lancer himself and summon a better Servant. Kotomine agrees and takes the knife.

Back at Ahnenerbe, they prepare for the post-carnival party. But before that, we finally get the answer to the Badump riddle! Super Date Plan! The boys choose "hang out with everyone" and launch their 4 a.m. plan for eternal happiness. The plan hits a snag, however, when Shiki wakes up to find he's trapped in a tube and being experimented on by Kohaku. The experiment is a success, and he's teleported outside where he meets Hisui, who's patiently waiting for his arrival for their "fix the roof" date. The only problem is that he's running very late, so he immediately heads to Arcueid Brunestud at the theater where she's preparing for a 10-movie marathon. Shiro, meanwhile, is spotted by Rin Tohsaka, who arrived early, as he escorts Sakura into the auditorium. Seeing Saber approach, he sends Rin to get a brochure while he takes Saber to a restaurant. Sitting down to watch the movie with Rin, he pretends to need to go to the bathroom so he can switch screens to sit with Sakura but leaves to join Saber outside the restaurant. Meanwhile, Shiki runs between Hisui, Ciel, and Arcueid. Shiro is surprised by Illyasviel von Einzbern who found him after completely forgetting to take him to an amusement park where Akiha was also left behind by Shiki. Everyone ends up heading there to prepare for the final battle while the guys try to find a way out of this awkward situation.

Meanwhile, in the final Tiger Dojo, Taiga insists that this isn't the end, but the beginning! Auld Lang Syne starts playing, so everyone knows it's definitely time to go home as the shutters begin to come down on the store. A post-credits scene takes us back to Ahnenerbe for the afterparty, with everyone celebrating together while preparing to say their goodbyes.
