Daichi Sawamura Haikyuu!! - Figures

Haikyuu!! is a manga series written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate. The manga was serialized in Shueisha's popular Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from early 2012 to mid-2020, which were then compiled into a total of forty-five tankobon volumes. The series was also adapted into several anime seasons, which premiered in April 2014. The series was produced by Production IG and directed by Susumu Mitsunaka and Masako Sato.

With the success of both the Haikyuu!! manga and anime adaptations, fans have been eager to add many types of merchandise to their collections, one of the most common forms being collectible figures. One of the most popular characters is Daichi Sawamura, the captain of the Karasuno volleyball team for the past three years. Among the small handful of figures that recreate his image, some of the most popular include "Haikyu!! 1-Point Figures Vol. 2," "Nendoroid Haikyu!! Season 3 Daichi Sawamura," and "DXF Haikyu!! Nendoroid Haikyu!! Daichi Sawamura Season 3 Figure

Like most figures in the Nendoroid line, this item takes Daichi's design and gives it a cute chibi twist. He is seen wearing his black and orange Karasuno uniform, complete with black knee pads. Multiple points of articulation and a variety of different accessories also give this item incredible variety, making it ideal for fans who like to change things up from time to time. Some of these accessories are facial expression plates, a miniature version of the Karasuno support banner, and a special base designed to look like a volleyball court.

DFX Figure Haikyu!! Vol. 8

This two-figure set from Banpresto's DXF series features the captain and ace of the Karasuno volleyball team, Daichi Sawamura, and Asahi Azumane. Both figures are wearing their team uniforms and have stern expressions as if preparing to start a new match. Daichi stands confidently with both hands on his hips, while Asahi takes a step forward and stretches his shoulder. About Daichi Sawamura

Daichi Sawamura is a third-year student at Karasuno High School and the captain of the school's volleyball team. Here are some details about his character in the series.

Background

Before enrolling at Karasuno, Daichi was a member of the Izumitate Middle School volleyball team, where he had some experience as a team captain. Like many other members of Karasuno's team, Daichi was inspired by the school's previous prestige as a powerhouse after seeing his team appear at the national championships. Although the school's team fell from grace, Daichi never completely lost hope, inspiring the other first-year members to truly try their best. Although it took nearly two years, Daichi's efforts began to pay off after a new group of students, Hinata Shoyo, Tobio Kageyama , Tadashi Yamaguchi , and Kei Tsukishima, joined the team.

Special Abilities

While not as powerful or fast as Asahi Azumane or Yu Nishinoya, Daichi excels at receiving opposing attacks thanks to his ability to read the spiker's shape to determine where the attack will land. This skill proves particularly useful against powerful attackers like Toru Oikawa and the setter/ace duo of Fukurodani, Keiji Akaashi and Kotaro Bokuto. In addition to his volleyball skills, Daichi is a natural leader and always knows how to get his team out of a bad mood.

Other important characters from Haikyuu!!

As captain of the Karasuno volleyball team, he has become close friends with several of its members, but none more so than fellow third-year members Koshi Sugawara and Asahi Azumane.

Koshi Sugawara

Koshi Sugawara is the vice-captain of the Karasuno volleyball team and, before Tobio Kageyama's arrival, was the main setter. After joining the school team and quickly becoming disillusioned with its lackluster performance, Koshi, along with Daichi and Asahi, decided to hold extra practices to hone their volleyball skills. Although he is now primarily a substitute member, he bears no grudge against Tobio but still refuses to give up a chance to play.

Asahi Azumane

Asahi is Karasuno's ace and joined the Karasuno team at the same time as Daichi and Koshi. While he lacks speed and stamina, Asahi makes up for it in power. Despite his imposing stature and intimidating attacks, Asahi is rather kind and sensible when it comes to his ace position.
