Daphne is the Witch of Gluttony. She is a small, petite girl with golden eyes and gray hair tied in two shoulder-length ponytails on either side of her head. She tends to be blindfolded, wears a white jumpsuit, and is constantly physically restrained. Above her jumpsuit are a series of black ties that bind her arms and feet to the coffin in which she is perpetually located. The coffin itself has two sets of lids that reveal her face and the rest of her body. Daphne has a fairly straightforward personality, displays few emotions, and doesn't care about much other than what immediately relates to her perpetual hunger.
History
Daphne lived over 400 years before the events involving the Witch of Envy . An unnamed man was afflicted with an illness. Fearing death, he began experimenting with various methods to prolong his life. He finally succeeded by using Daphne's body in his experiment. To celebrate her death, he untied some of her bonds, which brought her back to consciousness. When she regained consciousness, she found herself alone in the man's abandoned castle and terribly hungry.
Consumed by this hunger, she began to eat. Daphne ate everything she could find, including the throne and the rugs. Even when she vomited, she simply ate what she regurgitated and moved on. She constantly felt like she was about to starve to death, even though she was actually immortal. Finally, in an attempt to satisfy her endless hunger, she created Demonic Beasts . At the time, she believed them to be illusions, but she still used them as a good source. The constant clashes between her and her creations broke the remnants of her bonds, finally leaving her free to leave the castle. When she left, the Demonic Beasts did the same and then spread across the world.
Details of Daphne's movements and whereabouts from this point on are vague, but at some point Echidna the Witch of Greed reclaims her soul and she is killed and consumed by Satella the Witch of Envy. Using Daphne's soul, Echidna is able to manifest the Witch of Gluttony whenever she wishes. During the events of Arc 4 None Subaru requests to meet with Daphne after being killed by the Great Rabbits. They have a bit of an argument, which prompts Daphne to use the one eye that had been freed to impose her own extreme hunger on him. He recovers thanks to Minerva's help and then declares that he will get rid of the Great Rabbits.
Towards the end of the events of the Arc, as Echidna transplants her soul into Lewes-Meyer 's body, Daphne's soul remains with Echidna. She is then placed (along with the other witches' souls) into a pyroxene crystal. Echidna has shown that she can still summon the souls of the Sin Witches even in her new body (which she calls Omega).
Relationships
Demonic Beasts - All of the world's Demonic Beasts were originally created by Daphne to satisfy her own hunger. She feels no remorse for those who lost their lives to the Demonic Beasts, stating that those who eat others must be willing to be eaten in return. Due to their origins, Demonic Beasts (including the Three Great Demonic Beasts to some extent) can be controlled by those who have inherited her Authority of Gluttony.
The Witches of Sin - Despite her rather nonchalant attitude, she gave nicknames to the Witches of Sin such as DNA DNA (pronounced "Dona Dona") to Echidna, Met Met to Sekhmet None Ner Ner to Minerva, Mila-Mila to Carmilla , and Tyu-Tyu to Typhon None
Echidna - Echidna the Witch of Greed currently possesses Daphne's soul. Even now, as Omega travels the Kingdom of Lugnica , she can still materialize the Witches of Sin.
Subaru Natsuki - Daphne only met Subaru briefly in Echidna's domain, but had an argument over demonic beasts. She nicknamed him Subaru None.
SKILLS
Gluttony Authority - Daphne, as a Witch of Gluttony, is capable of using the Gluttony Authority. The extent of her powers with this authority is not entirely clear, but she has shown the ability to induce extreme hunger in others with a mere touch or glance. Subaru was only affected by his left eye and was driven to such despair that he ate his left arm and ignored all thoughts other than his hunger. Echidna noted that despite this demonstration, his right eye is even more terrifying.
