One Piece: Is Doflamingo Really Dead? Here's What Happened to Him!

When it comes to One Piece villains, Donquixote Doflamingo wasn't just one of the most powerful villains in the series; he was one of the most intriguing. His fights with Luffy garnered a lot of attention, as did his tyrannical reign over the people of Dessrosa. But, just as all tyrants eventually meet their end, Doflamingo did the same at one point. He was defeated by Luffy and then disappeared from the scene. In this article, we'll tell you if Doflamingo is really dead and what ultimately happened to him.
What happened to Donquixote Doflamingo in One Piece?
Donquixote Doflamingo was one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and the king of Dressrosa. With his vast mafia network of SADs used to create artificial Devil Fruits, he ruled the New World's criminal underworld under the alias "Joker." He was one of the main antagonists of the New World. Doflamingo ruled Dressrosa as a tyrant until his defeat by Monkey D. Luffy. The following is a recap of these events that will also reveal what happened to Doflamingo.
As Diamante, Trebol, and Lao G argue over Sugar being defeated and the Mera Mera no Mi being eaten by Sabo, Doflamingo tells them to stop as this will lead nowhere and forgives his two lieutenants' failures. Concerned, the Ace of Diamonds asks what they will do with Fujitora, which poses a slight problem for them, but Doflamingo states that there is nothing to worry about and adds that he will eliminate him when the time comes.
Law and Luffy confront Doflamingo and Trebol after discovering that Doflamingo has already defeated Bellamy. Luffy lands the first blow with Law's help, but Doflamingo remains relatively unaffected and defends Trebol. Doflamingo incapacitates Law and Luffy using his Haki. He reveals his deep hatred for his father and the loss of his Celestial Dragon privileges. Doflamingo attempts to finish Law off by having his clone fight while explaining his ability to summon CP-0 due to a privilege in Mary Geoise. He mentions controlling the world through the Ope Ope No Mi, which he could have obtained from Law.
Doflamingo discusses Ope Ope No Mi's ability to grant eternal life at the cost of the user's life. The fight between Doflamingo and Law ensues, with Law using his power to attack from behind. Law reveals his "D" heritage and defends himself with Haki. Doflamingo launches attacks, but Trebol prevents him as he enters Law's combat zone. Law uses an injection to pierce his abdomen, vowing to pull the trigger that Corazon could not. Despite Law's attempt to throw a tower at Doflamingo, the latter effortlessly stops it. Law tries to maneuver behind Doflamingo using rubble, but Doflamingo grabs his arm.
Doflamingo, after cutting off Law's arm, speaks of Corazon and his wish to save Dressrosa. He mocks Law, demanding forgiveness just as he posthumously forgave his father and brother. Doflamingo attempts to finish Law off with a gun but is interrupted by his broken clone. He releases Bellamy's control at Luffy's request and awaits Luffy's arrival. Upon Luffy's appearance, Doflamingo discovers that Law is still alive. A fight ensues between Doflamingo, Luffy, and Law. Trebol joins but is defeated by Law. Cavendish rescues the injured Law, leaving Doflamingo to face Luffy alone.
The battle intensifies, with Doflamingo witnessing Luffy activate Gear Four. However, he underestimates the extent of the technique and is overpowered, crushed, and sent flying. Although he quickly recovers, Doflamingo smiles as he sees Luffy suffering from the aftermath of Gear Four. He advances, facing opposition from the Gladiators who are trying to buy time for Luffy to recharge his Haki. Frustrated by their interference, Doflamingo struggles to reach Luffy. He encounters Viola, who is determined to finish him off. In a brutal scene witnessed by Rebecca, Doflamingo mercilessly attacks Viola.
Doflamingo, using his power, manipulates Rebecca into attacking Viola, relishing the two women's distress. However, Luffy intervenes just in time, surprising Doflamingo. Although Luffy has regained his Haki, Doflamingo sees him weakened and engages in a dominant fight. Eventually, Luffy keeps his promise and defeats Doflamingo with a single powerful blow. The unconscious Doflamingo is covered in Sea Granite by the Marines. In Chapter 801, he is aboard a Marine ship escorted by Fujitora, Sengoku, and Tsuru. Doflamingo reflects on the next Pirate King and hints at changes for the Celestial Dragons.
After his defeat, Doflamingo requested to read a journal as his only distraction in Impel Down. Emperor Kaido's fleet, led by Captain Jack, planned to attack the Navy ships to free Doflamingo. Although Jack was presumed dead, he managed to destroy two Navy ships. Despite Doflamingo's incarceration on Level 6 of Impel Down, Tsuru refused his request for journals. In Zou, it was revealed that Jack left Zou early to save the Minks after Doflamingo's defeat. Kaido acknowledged the failure of Jack's mission to retrieve Doflamingo. In Impel Down, Doflamingo was isolated on Level 6, speculating about potential assassins sent by Mary Geoise to silence him because he knew the secret of the Holy Land.
Doflamingo, always smiling, reflects on the fleeting nature of power and expresses a desire for people to know the truth. After the events of Levely, he acquires a journal in Impel Down, eagerly keeping abreast of important world events. Doflamingo is alive and imprisoned in Impel Down, last seen during the Wano Country Arc, indicating his current well-being in the story.
