Synopsis

Reiji Kirio leads a boring life as an office worker until he is suddenly transported to another world! There, he realizes he has been given a skill called "Drug Creation," and he soon uses this skill to save a critically injured werewolf girl named Noella after encountering her in a forest. Although disappointed that he was not given a combat skill, he begins using his newfound pharmacist skills to brew effective potions that quickly become popular. With the money he raises, he decides to open a pharmacy called Kirio Drug, and the abandoned building he chooses just so happens to be home to a kind ghost girl named Mina! Thus begins his new life of fulfilling the demands of his unusual customers while enjoying a quiet life in a new world!

Background

A Pharmacy in Another World: The Slow Life of a Cheating Pharmacist is a light novel series written by Kennoji and illustrated by Matsuuni that was serialized on the user-generated novel publishing site Shosetsuka no Naro from July 2016 to July 2020. It was acquired by Hifumi Shobo in 2018 and has been published under their Brave Novel imprint ever since. As of February 2021, five volumes have been published. The light novel has been licensed for English release in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.

A manga adaptation illustrated by Eri Haruno has been serialized on Takeshobo's Web Comic Gamma Plus website since December 2018. As of November 2020, it has been released in four tankobon volumes. It has also been licensed for English release in North America by Seven Seas Entertainment.

An anime adaptation was announced by Hifumi Shobo at Comiket 97 in December 2019. The series is animated by EMT Squared and stars Masafumi Sato ( Denki-Gai None Idol Hour PriPara None Holy October ) as director with Hiroko Kanasugi ( Cute High Earth Defense Club HAPPY KISS! None My Mental Choices Are Completely Interfering with My School Romantic Comedy None Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-kun ) handling series composition and scripts, Etsuko Sumimoto ( As Miss Beelzebub Loves None March Comes in Like a Lion None Yurikuma Arashi ) credited as both character designer and chief animation director, and Tomoki Kikuya ( The "Hentai" Prince and the Stone Cat None Nisekoi – False Love None Yuuna and the Haunted Hot Springs ) composing the music. The anime's opening theme song is "Kokoro Hayaru" by Akane Kumada, and the ending theme song is "Mainichi Kashimashi Pharmacy" by Risae Matsuda, Akane Kumada, and Jun Fukushima. The anime will premiere in Japan on July 7, 2021, on Tokyo MX and BS11.

Characters

Reiji Kirio (Voice of: Jun Fukushima)
The protagonist of the series. He led a boring life as an office worker stuck in a dead-end job until he was suddenly transported to another world and given a cheat skill called "Drug Creation" that allows him to create effective potions and other remedies that soon make him the talk of the town. He soon manages to save enough money and opens his own pharmacy called Kirio Drug.

Noëlla (Voiced by: Risae Matsuda)
A werewolf girl who was severely injured by monsters and was on the verge of death when Reiji encountered her shortly after arriving in the new world and used his cheating ability to save her life. She became an employee at Kirio Drug.

Mina (Voiced by: Akane Kumada)
A kind ghost girl living in the abandoned building Reiji chose as his new pharmacy. She doesn't know she's a ghost and categorically denies it whenever someone points it out.

Elaine (Voiced by: Satsumi Matsuda)
The daughter of a nobleman and a customer at Reiji's pharmacy, she asks him for a medicine to attract people's attention.

Annabel (Voice of: Mariko Higashiuchi)
The leader of a mercenary group that usually defends the city against outside forces. She becomes addicted to a potion brewed by Reiji.

Garou Ejiru (Voice of: Fumiko Uchimura)
The demon lord of the demon world. He is usually very arrogant and has a bossy side as a commander. He falls in love with Noella.
