Eugeo is a main character in the Sword Art Online Alicization arc and an NPC in the Underworld. Growing up in Rulid City, Eugeo began training to become a swordsman after being inspired by Kirito's skills as a swordsman and his Aincrad sword fighting style. However, this was made possible after Eugeo and Kirito successfully cut down the Gigas Cedar, a task that proved to be a real challenge. It was only after the duo had thoroughly trained in sword fighting that the use of the Blue Rose sword allowed for a faster approach to cutting down the Gigas Cedar. Eugeo has medium-length light brown hair and green eyes. As a child, Eugeo wore a blue tunic, which became his regular attire during his years in the village. After moving to the Sword Mastery Academy and becoming an elite swordsman, he chose the color blue as his preferred uniform. Eugeo uses the Blue Rose sword as his weapon, a one-handed sword and a divine item. It is a weapon composed entirely of ice, and his Total Armament Control Art allows the user to unleash an area attack that freezes enemies in blocks of ice, further reducing the durability of anyone affected and contained within its effect.

History

Born only a day after his friend Alice Zuberg, Eugeo grew up in the village of Rulid, where he was given the task of chopping down the giant cedar alongside his friend Kirito. Eugeo and Kirito spent most of their childhood chopping down the tree, knowing it would be a task they would not complete in their lifetime, so they also amused themselves with moments of light play during their short breaks. The pair were often visited by their friend Alice, who would bring her own cooking for the boys to enjoy for lunch. However, one summer, the group sought a method to preserve their food longer in the heat and traveled to the Rim Mountain range to harvest ice from the dragon cavern within. Inside, the trio discovers that the dragon is long gone, having perished with only its bones in its wake, surrounded by the pile of treasure it had amassed, among which, Eugeo and his friends discover the legendary "Blue Rose Sword," an item that their city's founder, Bercouli, attempted to steal from the dragon centuries ago. On their way back, the trio encountered an incident on their way out, leading Alice to break the Taboo Index, a set of laws that all humans must follow, which led the next day, an Upright Knight from the capital city to visit the city center and arrest her for her crimes. Kirito and Eugene attempt to stop the Upright Knight, but Eugene is held in neutral, as his right eye turns to read, and the message #SYSTEM ALERT# CODE: 871 envelops his vision.

Relationships

Kirito
Kirito is a childhood friend of Eugeo, and they both spent their days chopping down the giant cedar tree. After Kirito's return to the Underworld, Eugeo no longer remembers who he is, though Kirito meets him for the first time in the village. The two quickly become best friends and work together to study sword fighting at the Swordsmanship Academy.
Alice Zuberg
Born only the day after Alice and Kirito grew up in Rulid Village, the two children grew up with them. After Alice's arrest by the Integrity Knights, Eugeo vowed to go to the Central Cathedral and save her.
Tiése Shtolienen
After becoming an elite swordsman in training at the Swordsmanship Academy, Eugeo chose Tiese to become his page. Tiese was responsible for fulfilling Eugeo's requests while also receiving sword training in the afternoons.
