Evageeks Community

Evageeks is an encyclopedia of Evangelion- related topics, much like its parent site, Wikipedia. Here, users can find a wealth of information on all things Evangelion, with easy-to-use navigation and clear sections on the homepage, making it simple to use while still providing users with as much information as they need.

About

The "About" page, found at the bottom of any page on the site via the "About This Site" button, takes users to a page that fully explains most matters purely related to the site. The comment on the "About" page tells users that at this time, the site is not even in a "ready for public release" state. The site goes on to say that while readers are still allowed to look around, they might end up finding false or incomplete information, and that readers should be wary of this. The site also states that it aims to be an umbrella for all content related to Evangelion, whether directly or indirectly. The site doesn't aim to be solely a source of information about the series itself, but a way for users to connect with each other, a place to share ideas and thoughts for others to read and perhaps even give their own thoughts and ideas in return, and a place to explore theories. The site emphasizes that it was created purely by Evangelion fans wanting to talk about the series, and that it was designed for Evangelion fans wanting to talk about the series, and that this is the only kind of mission statement they believe the site needs.

Theories and analyses

The About page also explains that while the site contains many "Theories and Analysis" pages, they cannot be found through "Basic Information" and must instead be searched for or found through further research on the topics to which those theories or analyses relate. The site humbly explains that there is currently no easy way for users to find these pages and admits that the site administrator will need to work on this in the future.

Geek guides

The administrator explains that while it claims to be an encyclopedic-style information hub, the site contains many pages that are far less dry and straightforward than the average wiki style, and these are often what are called "geek guides." These guides tend to be more fun to read and, in fact, include many "intelligent commentaries" made by fans and critics of the Evangelion series.

Essays and dialogues

This section of the site claims to be reserved solely for specific ideas and explanations that seem to have come first. It features original or exceptional work; pieces never before seen or thought of—at least not out loud or in writing.

Translations

While the site offers many translations, it also warns users that translators are not always trustworthy and that the site tries to use translations sparingly to avoid misleading users. The site only uses translations when it seems difficult for users to easily find the translation themselves through a search engine like Google.

Randomness

The best way to say it is as the admin put it: "In other words, 'Assorted Humor and Curiosities, or, whatever else,' doesn't belong anywhere else.

The creators emphasize that they don't like the name of their website because they feel it's cliché, and they only use it because they used MediaWiki software to manage the site.

Discovery of the site

The site offers many features such as news, forums, IRC (chat rooms), articles, guides, terminology, comments, production, images, and even offers an A-Z list of everything they offer on the site for users to browse, or a "random" section filled with miscellaneous works that don't fit anywhere else. Users can also create their own account using their own email on the site, which allows them to edit articles and send messages in the chat rooms.

From the homepage, the most sought-after information can be found more easily than if you had to browse the entire site. For example, the homepage has a section with links to information about each Evangelion character, human, Evangelion, or angel. Users can easily find the person they are looking for and simply click on the name to quickly get their information. Each character has long, wiki-style pages that not only provide users with a wealth of information, but also allow them to click on exactly what they want to know about the character and be taken directly to that location on the page.

Not only are the main navigation buttons located at the header of each page (news, forums, discussion, history, and search bar), but the footer of each page also contains the full menu so users don't have to return to the home page every time they're ready to access a new page.

Much of the information on the site is written with humor and wit to show readers that while this is a place with a wealth of information, it is also a fan-friendly website, with fans just being fans.
