Synopsis

The past year has been marked by major changes for certain groups on Earth. First, fueled by the tragic death of his adoptive father Igneel and the constant battles against the dark guild Tartaros, Natsu set out to travel the lands with Happy, a renewed determination to become even more powerful igniting his fire.

Even more surprising was the disbandment of the Fairy Tail guild, an order issued by Fairy Tail Master Makarov himself without any explanation or warning. Just like Natsu and Happy, Makarov's location was also kept secret.

Meanwhile, Lucy landed a job as a reporter. While dedicated to her work, she also decided to use her skills and resources to gather news of her friends as they traveled across the continent. Working without a real plan, Lucy thought her next big assignment—covering the annual Great Magic Game—would go off without a hitch... until Natsu and Happy made a grand appearance and tracked her down once more.

Now, with the revival of Fairy Tail in mind, Lucy, Natsu, and Happy embark on a new journey to find the rest of their friends and former guildmates to put things back the way they should be.

Background

A fantasy series written by Hiro Mashima, Fairy Tail was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine from August 2006 to July 2017 with 63 volumes. There are also two other related manga series: the prequel Fairy Tail Zero , and the sequel Fairy Tail 100 Years of Quest None.

The anime television series has been airing since October 2009 and has over 277 episodes. In addition to a nine-episode OVA, it has also had two animated films: Fairy Tail the Movie: Phoenix Priestess and Fairy Tail: Dragon's Cry .

The final season of Fairy Tail will premiere on October 7 on TV Tokyo, among other channels. Announced in April 2018, the opening theme is "Power of the Dream" by Lol, while the ending theme is "Endless Harmony" by Beverly.

Characters

Natsu Dragneel (Voice of: Tetsuya Kakihara)

A member of Fairy Tail, Natsu is a mage who uses Dragon Slayer Magic, his most mastered element being fire. During his childhood, he was raised by his father Igneel, who was a powerful dragon also known as the "Fire Dragon King." While he certainly has a temper, this also translates into a passion for the happiness and well-being of his friends, family, and allies. His partner is Happy. After years of searching, Natsu was finally able to find Igneel, but it proved to be an incredibly painful experience after Igneel's death. Afterward, Natsu vowed to become even more powerful.

Lucy Heartfilia (Voice of: Aya Hirano)

A member of Fairy Tail, Lucy is a mage who practices Celestial Spirit Magic, which allows her to summon Celestial Spirits from the Celestial Spirit World by using their keys to unlock their doors. She also makes contracts with them so that she can use the agreed-upon terms on them. She loves Celestial Spirits and possesses a surprising amount of keys. Her dream is to become a writer, which somewhat came true after Fairy Tail disbanded. However, while working as one, she also tried to track down her friends.

Happy (Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya)

A member of Fairy Tail, Happy is a Mage who uses a magic called Aera, which allows him to fly through the air with magnificent wings. Originally from Edolas, he is an Exceed who is also Natsu's partner. He loves fish.

Gray Fullbuster (Voice of: Yuichi Nakamura)

A member of Fairy Tail, Gray is a mage who uses a magic called Ice-Make, which allows him to manipulate water into different forms like weapons. He has a strange and disturbing habit of shedding most of his clothes, but despite this peculiarity, he is actually the highest-ranked member of his guild. Although he and Natsu compete like cats and dogs, they also respect each other as rivals. After the death of his father, who was a member of Tartaros, Gray was given the gift of Ice Devil Slayer Magic. Now, he is determined to put an end to E.N.D.

Erza Scarlet (Voiced by: Sayaka Ohara)

A member of Fairy Tail, Erza is a mage who has mastered a magic called Requip: The Knight, which allows her to instantly summon her large stock of weapons, armor, and clothing at will. Not only is she known for wearing armor, but she is also considered the strongest woman in Fairy Tail as an S-Class mage, and is also known as Titania. During her childhood, long before becoming a member of Fairy Tail, she was enslaved alongside Jellal (aka Mystogan) and forced to help build the Tower of Heaven. Her nickname "Scarlet" was given to her thanks to her striking hair color.

Wendy Marvell (Voice of: Satomi Satou)

A member of Fairy Tail, Wendy is a mage who uses Celestial Dragon Slayer Magic. She was once a member of the Cat Shelter, but after the incident with Nirvana, she joined Fairy Tail alongside her partner Carla. Her offensive and defensive abilities can be enhanced by using the Re-Raise spell. She is also very skilled with healing spells. She is on good terms with Sherria Blendy, who participated in the annual Grand Magic Game.

Carla (Voiced by: Yui Horie)

A member of Fairy Tail, Carla is a mage who also uses the magic called Aera, which allows her to fly through the air with magnificent wings. In addition to using the same magic as Happy, she also speaks the same dialect. She is always by Wendy's side and has made it her mission to be her protector and guardian. Carla also possesses a rare ability called Precognition, which allows her to know what will happen in the future. She is fond of fish and Darjeeling tea.
