Fate Artoria Pendragon Saber

Artoria Pendragon's Dragon Saber - Fate

Who was Artoria Pendragon?

Also known as Arthur Pendragon, King Arthur, or King of Knights, Artoria Pendragon was the King of Britain. She lived her life disguised as a man, to the point of marrying a woman, Guinevere, to honor the act and obligation of a king. She was the daughter of King Urther Pendragon of Britain and the wife of one of his servants, the Duke of Cornwall. However, she was raised as a simple knight by Sir Ector. She became king by being able to pull the sword Caliburn from the stone without difficulty when no one else could, and it was prophesied that whoever could pull it would be king. She ruled Britain from Camelot and had several close knights by her side, including Lancelot, called the Knights of the Round Table. When Lancelot had an affair with his wife, Artoria realized her marriage was a farce. She forgave them both and gave them her blessing, but Lancelot could never forgive himself. While fighting along her country's borders, Britain was destroyed by civil unrest. She was killed by the traitor Mordred. Her wish for the Holy Grail was to change Britain's fate so that it would never fall into the ruin it did.

Appearance

Since each of her alternate versions has differences in their appearance (mainly their outfits), we will explain her most well-known appearance here. She has fair skin, green eyes, blonde hair, a slim physique, and a youthful young adult appearance. She looks young because she stopped aging at the age of 18 when she pulled the sword Caliburn from the stone. She is elegant, graceful, and carries herself with confidence. She often wears a long-sleeved, puff-shouldered, high-necked royal blue gown with a white bodice and plenty of volume at the bottom, which also has a layer of white fabric detailed with gold peeking out. Over it, she wears chest armor and armor on her sides as well as on her hands and forearms. The armor ties at her waist. Usually, her hair is tied back in a braided bun with a ribbon tied in a bow that matches her gown, except for the shorter pieces that frame her face. She has an ahoge (or a section of hair that sticks out from her head). She also has a wide variety of casual outfits due to her inability to dematerialize. The most notable is her all-black suit with a tie that she wears with her hair in a low ponytail.

Personality

Saber is said to not understand human emotions. She put everything aside when she became more like a god and less like a human when she pulled the sword Caliburn from the stone. She cares about justice, honor, and her country. She sacrificed herself and her pleasures for Britain. Although she was an incredible swordswoman, she was humble. She had great faith in those she kept close, such as the Knights of the Round Table. In her heart, there was a lot of guilt over the fall of Britain and self-doubt, wondering what she could have done differently and what she did wrong, especially after Rider insulted her for her kingly ways and she discovered that Lancelot had gone mad because of her.
