What is the story of Gilgamesh?
Gilgamesh is a demigod and 3/3 human, making him an extremely powerful demigod. He is said to have possessed all the treasures of Earth, becoming the richest king on Earth. Becoming supreme above all kings, he earned, and only he, the title "King of Heroes." Even the gods took notice of his growing, overwhelming power and arrogance, so they created Enkidu, a sexless mud monster with an androgynous human form. He was a perfect match in power for Gilgamesh, and they fought for several days, finally ending in a truce, as otherwise they would both have died foolishly. They then became friends. His alignment is Chaotic Good.
Who is Enkidu and why does Gilgamesh care about him so much?
As mentioned above, Enkidu was a monster made of mud by the Gods to punish Gilgamesh for his arrogance. However, after several days of fighting, they decided to call a truce and a close friendship was formed. His friend unfortunately died when he could not disobey an order from the gods to die given to him because Gilgamesh and he together killed the Bull of Heaven sent by Ishtar who was upset by Gilgamesh's refusal of her marriage proposal. Gilgamesh held him until he was nothing but mud in his arms, but before that, Enkidu told him that he would find many more treasures and Gilgamesh replied in disagreement that he would not and that Enkidu would be the one and only person he would ever call friend. He cried a lot for his friend.
Personality
Gilgamesh loves to have fun. He doesn't care about conquering or ruling, but simply about collecting treasure and partaking of worldly pleasures. He doesn't care about killing humans because he sees them as mere beings about to die anyway. He is also angry at the gods for sentencing his only friend, Enkidu, to death. He thinks highly of himself and despises everyone, especially those who think they are as good as he is.
Appearance
Although there are some differences in his appearance depending on the series he appears in, he generally appears as a man with spiky blond hair and red eyes. He has a slim, fit physique with incredibly powerful golden armor and a red cape. He also wears gold earrings.
What are Gilgamesh's noble fantasies?
Gilgamesh's primary Noble Phantasm is the Gate of Babylon. Among the many Noble Phantasms it contains and is capable of summoning are Enuma and Ea, which he only uses on worthy opponents. He also possesses Sha Naqba Imuru, which grants him clairvoyance. With this, he can know the true names of servants as well as their Noble Phantasms and is extremely perceptive when it comes to magic, even seeing through spells and being able to count how many are being prepared. Another Noble Phantasm he possesses grants him the ability to levitate very high in the air.
What is the Gate of Babylon: the king's treasury?
The Gate of Babylon is Gilgamesh's primary Noble Phantasm, which he first used against Enkidu. At first, he was embarrassed to use it because it wasn't meant to be used as a weapon, but he grew to appreciate it for that use. He made it to store all of his treasures and is capable of summoning any weapon, including Noble Phantasms, to use against his opponents in battle. It functions using an "invisible gate" between dimensions. Gilgamesh can choose how many weapons are summoned from one to thousands, as well as direct their aim without hitting them. This Noble Phantasm is what makes him the Archer class. They are capable of dealing damage to the terrain or being recalled before hitting him. He can send out an endless stream of weapons, like the deadliest arrows, and do so in battle after battle. The King's Key of Law, Bab-ilu, is a key-like sword that can open any door as long as it has a lock, including the Gate of Babylon. One of its shown uses is when he summons Ea in Fate/Zero to use against Rider. No one but Gilgamesh can wield the key. The Gate of Babylon contains all of Earth's treasures, not just weapons, so intellectual properties are also included, as are magical artifacts and even food like Earth's finest wine. It can even hold people inside. He says, however, that he is missing a few items, but already claims them as "his treasure," namely God Hand, Kavacha and Kundala, and Avalon. He cannot always remember all of the items he owns. It is said that Darius I was first able to access the Gate of Babylon with the Crafting Essence of the Gate of Babylon after Gilgamesh's death. A few others followed suit, including Darius III, and the content spread worldwide.
