Synopsis

The story takes place in 2015. A powerful organization using both magic and science in that era, called the Organization for the Preservation of Human Order, Finis Chaldea, or simply Chaldea for short, is tasked with saving humanity from extinction. Humanity is in danger of being destroyed by the appearance of singularities occurring throughout the timestream and which can disrupt the structure of time and space. To stop these singularities as they occur in the timeline, the mages (masters) and heroic spirits (servants) of Chaldea must team up and travel back in time and either intervene in the events of that era or destroy the singularities themselves.

The story focuses on a young girl named Mash Kyrielight, who was developed by Chaldea to be a Demi-Servant by combining a Heroic Spirit with a human body, and a young boy named Ritsuka Fujimaru, who was designated by Chaldea as a potential Master. Mash's small pet, Fou, also joins the story. The Chaldea organization had gathered dozens of potential Masters and Servants to help end Singularity F. However, a mysterious explosion suddenly erupts at Chaldea's facility, severely injuring all the potential Masters and Servants except for Ritsuka. The disaster leaves Mash crushed under large debris and on the verge of death. Ritsuka finds her and attempts to stay with her in her final moments of life.

As the two are about to die in the destruction, Chaldea's time-travel technology, Rayshifting, activates and sends Ritsuka and Mash (now unharmed thanks to her freed Demi-Servant form) back to 2004 in Fuyuki City during Singularity F, which is also the final moments of the Fourth Holy Grail War. In this iteration of the war and at this precise moment, Saber Alter had almost won when Singularity F took over.

Ritsuka and Mash land in 2004 and are immediately attacked by a volley of Archer's arrows. After surviving, they encounter Director Olga Marie Amunisphere (who also traveled to 2004). Their power is felt by Lancer (Medusa). Lancer has also become Saber's slave. After Lancer beheads the pathetic Shinji Matou, whom she had turned to stone earlier, she begins a fight with Mash. Mash seems overwhelmed by Lancer, but Caster (Cú Chulainn) appears and supports her. The two work together to destroy Lancer. Caster then explains the current state of the war to our protagonists. They agree to form an alliance to defeat Saber and Archer, who are protecting Singularity F.

Ritsuka, Mash, and Caster confront Archer and Saber in two separate battles. Ultimately, our heroes are victorious and destroy Saber and Archer. But the true mastermind behind this Singularity, Professor Leff, appears before them. He reveals himself to be a traitor to the Chaldean Security Organization and the one who planted the bomb that destroyed the facility. He also explains that Director Olga's physical body in 2015 is dead, and that only her consciousness still exists because she underwent a rayshift just as she died.

Professor Leff then drags Olga into Chaldea, which has now transformed into a black hole due to the power of the Holy Grail. Leff reveals that the world of 2015 is already destroyed, and only the Chaldea facilities remain due to a magnetic shield protecting them. Eventually, Leff leaves Ritsuka and Mash to die as space and time collapse around them. Fortunately, they manage to rayshift back to 2015 just in time.

Seven new singularities have appeared, and Ritsuka and Mash must now eliminate them all to save the world. This mission is called Grand Order.
