Fate Rider of Black Astolfo
The Black Knight (Astolfo) - Destiny
Profile
Astolfo is the Rider-class servant of the Dark Faction and the servant of Celenike Icecolle Yggdmillennia and later Sieg during the Great Holy Grail War described in Fate/Apocrypha. He is one of Charlemagne's twelve paladins and is said to be the most handsome of them. In his past life, he was an adventurer who traveled the world in search of treasure. Many legends were created around his exploits.
Astolfo is very optimistic and cheerful, and enjoys the pleasures of the world to the fullest, often choosing to remain in physical form when not in combat. He tends to make decisions in the moment based on his heart and feelings rather than what the end result will be for him. He has a close relationship with Sieg and helps him escape the castle. He later becomes his servant after his master, Celenike, is killed by Mordred.
Appearance
Astolfo has an androgynous appearance and is often mistaken for a girl. He dresses in a fancy outfit that includes a white coat, a black top, and an armored skirt. He likes to dress like a girl because he likes cute things. He has shoulder-length light pink hair with a long braid that goes down his back and is adorned with ribbons. He also has a distinctive yaeba tooth protruding from his mouth.
SKILLS
Similar to a typical Rider-class Servant, Astolfo has no special abilities and relies on his Noble Phantasms in combat. As a Servant and paladin of Charlemagne, his strength is considered weak.
Noble fantasies
The Black Moon: Anti-Army Class. Also known as the Magic Flute that Calls Panic. A large hunting horn given to Astolfo by the good witch Logistilla of Avalon. It emits a powerful sound that pushes enemies back with the force of an explosion over a wide area. Its shape is usually that of a small horn that Astolfo wears on his belt but increases in size when he activates it.
Logistilla Breaker: Anti-Unit (Self) Class. Also known as Declaration of Destruction. A thick leather magic book also given to Astolfo by the witch Logistilla, it has the ability to protect the user by nullifying all magic. However, Astolfo usually cannot remember his true name to activate it unless it is a moonless night.
Argalia's Trap: Anti-unit class. Also known as Down with a Touch! An ornate golden spear originally belonging to Argalia that Astolfo discovered during one of his exploits. While not as powerful as other Noble Phantasms, it is capable of dematerializing the body part of a Servant it strikes and restoring them to their spiritual form.
Hippogriff: Anti-Army Class. Also known as the Phantom Horse from Another World. A phantasmagorical beast created from a cross between a griffin and a mare, the Hippogriff is Astolfo's mount. In addition to being fast and agile, it possesses a powerful destructive attack and is capable of shifting dimensions in short bursts due to its nature as an impossible creature that should not exist.
Role
Astolfo is summoned by Celenike to fight alongside her in the Great Holy Grail War, and he wastes no time trying to get to know everyone in the Black Faction. Later, he finds a runaway homunculus boy (who later takes the name Sieg) and helps him hide from the others. With the help of Archer of Black (Chiron), he manages to heal Sieg. He takes compassion on Sieg and vows to help him regain his freedom. After a battle with members of the Red Faction, he returns to the castle while the others are busy and sneaks Sieg out. However, as they escape through the woods, they are found by a Master of Black, Gordes Musik Yggdmillennia, who accidentally kills Sieg. With Siegfried's help, however, Sieg's life is restored, and Jeanne takes him into her care. The Black Faction discovers Astolfo's activities and he is punished by his Master, who enjoys raping him in depraved ways.
He is later freed and participates in the attack on the Hanging Gardens, though he is taken down by its defenses. He also fights Saber of Red (Mordred) but is outclassed by her and is saved by Sieg. Shortly after, however, Celenike appears and uses a Command Seal to order him to kill Sieg. He tries to fight against the Command but is unsuccessful. Before he can complete the order, however, Mordred appears and kills Celenike. With his master gone, Astolfo makes a new pact with Sieg and becomes his servant.
After the Greater Grail is stolen by Shirou, he and Sieg join Sisigou, Mordred, and the Yggdmillennia to fight him. Using his Noble Phantasm Logistille Breaker, he protects them as they approach the Hanging Gardens and continues to destroy the Gardens' defenses. During their assault on the Gardens, he receives one of Achilles' Noble Phantasms, which he later uses to save Sieg during his battle with Lancer of Red (Karna). He and Sieg then race on his Hippogriff to find Jeanne, who has gone after Shirou, but he is caught in a trap, and Sieg continues without him. After Sieg defeats Shirou, he awakens with Sieg inside the Greater Grail. With his final command, Sieg orders Astolfo to go bring joy to the world.
