Fate Servant and Classes
Introducing Fate's Classes and Servants
Servants fight for their master in the Holy Grail War. They are usually summoned using an artifact called a catalyst and a summoning ritual. They can be heroic spirits, divine spirits, ghosts, specters, and even beings from the future.
They are too powerful to be controlled by humans, but usually the Master is given three Command Seals to command them to do things they wouldn't otherwise do, even going as far as committing suicide.
Servants are also capable of shifting from a material body to a spiritual one, something that isn't easily perceived by humans, mages, or other Servants. In most cases, Servants cannot exist for very long without a master providing them with mana, which they use for strength and to anchor themselves in the world. Therefore, they must quickly find another contract if they lose their master. Some Servants aren't able to last as long as others. And it takes much more effort to keep them materialized after the Holy Grail War.
Once summoned, Servants receive enough information about the modern world to function within it. However, the information they receive is not exhaustive, and Servants are sometimes surprised by what they learn about the world previously unknown to them in their time, such as Rider discovering just how vast it is.
The Master and Servant are able to see each other's memories through their dreams. Under certain circumstances, a Servant can possess a human and become a Demi-Servant or Pseudo-Servant.
There are also Minion cards, High Minions, Pseudo-Minions, Shadow Minions, Solo Minions, Wandering Minions, Superior Minions, and Udon Minions.
There are several classes for servants in the Destiny series and even more throughout the Nasuverse.
Each servant also has an alignment which includes Good (Law, Neutral, Chaotic), Neutral (Law, True, Chaotic), Evil (Law, Neutral, Chaotic), Summer (Law, Neutral, Chaotic, Mad), Mad (Law, Neutral, Chaotic, Mad), Bride (Law, Neutral, Chaotic, Mad), Reckless (Law, Neutral, Chaotic, Mad), and Variable which changes depending on the Master.
Servants have the following main stats: Strength, Stamina, Agility, Magical Power, Good Luck, and Noble Phantasm. The Mad Enhancement and Berserker class can make them even more powerful. Several factors impact their strength. They can also be enhanced by things like Ascension (in the FATE system), Shapeshifting: Altered Morphology (in Fate/Extella ), and the Mythological Mystic Code.
Their true name says a lot about them, their desire to obtain the Holy Grail, and how they will fight in battle, as it reveals who they once were (or who they are if a living person was summoned from the future). Some Servants are fearless and more than willing to share their true name, such as Rider, King of Conquerors/Alexander the Great, in Fate/Zero None
Their real names may also have Alter, Lilly, or Santa appended to their name. Alter is used when the Servant differs significantly from their normal self. Lily is used for a younger version of a Servant. And Santa is used for Christmas-themed events in Fate/Grand Order.
The classification includes three knight classes (Saber, Lancer, and Archer) and four cavalry classes (Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker). These are the standard classes. There are also non-standard classes such as Ruler with the Holy Grail War and several other classes throughout the Nasuverse, including Alter Ego, Ancient Giant, Avenger, Beast, Faker, Foreigner, Funny Vamp, Gatekeeper, Grand Archer, Grand Assassin, Grand Caster, Gunner, MoonCancer, Ruler, Saver, Shielder, and Watcher.
