Funko Pop - Final Fantasy
The Final Fantasy franchise has spawned a wide variety of merchandise and toys. Many fans of Final Fantasy and the game's figures are eagerly awaiting the release of a line of Funko Pop figures.
Funko Pop
Funko is a leading vinyl and bobblehead company in America. Funko originally manufactured electronic items such as USB drives, lamps, and headphones. It was founded in 1998 by Mike Becker in Snohomish, Washington. The project was originally conceived as a way to make small, nostalgic, collectible toys. Becker wanted to find a piggy bank that used the Big Boy restaurant mascot but was unable to acquire one. He eventually licensed the rights to a Big Boy franchise to create his own piggy banks. However, the banks failed to sell, and the company filed for bankruptcy. Funko remained in business and was able to license its rights to the Austin Powers BobbleHeads, which ultimately proved successful. Funko then sold the Grinch, Tony the Tiger, and Cheerios mascots, and Becker sold the company to Briany Mariotti in 2005. Funko then began selling its Pop! Vinyl figure line.
Pop! Vinyl
Pop! Vinyl figures are decorated bobbleheads influenced by a Japanese style known as Chibi (meaning small or tiny). Figures made from Pop! Vinyl are distinctly distinguished by large heads, small bodies, and large, monochromatic eyes that are widely spaced on the character's face. Most standard Pop! Vinyl figures are known for lacking mouths and eyebrows. Figures are categorized as Pop! Movies, Pop! Television, Disney Pop!, Star Wars Pop!, Marvel Pop!, Pop! Heroes, and Game of Thrones Pop! The Pop! Vinyl brand has produced a number of characters in popular culture, including video games, cartoons, movies, and television, and has grown in popularity over the years. Funko, Inc., has partnered with various high-profile companies in recent years, such as Marvel, StarKist. Co., Warner Bros., Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Microsoft. These figures are generally sold at an affordable price, starting at $5 if previously owned, up to $2,000 (in US dollars) depending on the age and condition of the item. This is the case of world-renowned figure collector Aaron White, who purchased a Fantastic Four Dr. Doom model for $2,000.
Final Fantasy Funko Pop Figure
There is currently no agreement or partnership between the Funko Pop brand and Square Enix. The same is true for Final Fantasy Nendoroid . However, Square Enix's Funko! Pop figure versions, called Chibi or Figurines, are widely available on the official Square Enix website and other Japanese retailers. Below is a description of the various Final Fantasy figures offered by Square Enix, and for many figures, their chibi, or "Funko Pop," counterpart is available. The most popular Funko Pop-style figures are those of the characters Cloud and Sepiroth.
Final Fantasy Figures
Final Fantasy figurines refer to the various action figures, figurines, dolls, and other physical representations of characters and beings from the popular role-playing game Final Fantasy, which constitute a category of various merchandise. Many of the most popular characters from the game series, such as Cloud Strife None Gale Leonhart None Tide None Noctis Lucis Caelum and many others, have been recreated as figurines, which are available for purchase on various e-commerce sites and figurine shops worldwide. The official Square Enix website also features several Final Fantasy Plush products that have been released, such as Moogle Plush and Chocobo Plush. In addition to the official Square Enix website, the Solaris Japan website also offers a variety of popular figurines from the game series. Figure prices vary considerably, with some new and limited edition figures costing over $200 and, at the low end, used or cheap figures selling for around $10.
A popular figure: Cloud Strife
Final Fantasy VII Cloud Strife's main facial features and clothing colors were designed to match Tetsuya Nomura's illustration. He is depicted with a shoulder pad on his left shoulder, and the armor on his hips allows him to pivot into different poses. Fine details are included on his Buster sword and cape. His cape can be replaced with a wing, and like Cloud, four interchangeable hands are included with the figure. The figure, if combined with Sephiroth, would surely evoke imagery from the world of Final Fantasy VII.
Zidane Tribal and Princess Garnet Figurine
Another popular figure on the Square Enix website is that of the Zidane tribe, the main characters of Final Fantasy IX , and Princess Garnet, another character from the game. The figures are highly detailed and replicate their in-game appearance, and can even be made to pet each other. They both come with a number of accessories, as well as:
-
Zidane comes with three (3) weapons: daggers, mage massers and an ultimate weapon, two (2) interchangeable face parts and eight (8) hands.
-
Garnet comes with two (2) weapons: Healing Rod and Tiger Racket, one (1) interchangeable face part, two (2) long hair pieces, three (3) short hair pieces, and five (5) hands.
