Garp vs. Mihawk: Who is stronger and who would win in a fight?

In terms of comparison potential, One Piece definitely offers us an abundance of exceptionally intriguing characters that we can easily compare in our articles, and that's exactly what we're going to do in this article as well. The two characters we'll be comparing are Luffy's grandfather and one of the most powerful Marines in the series, Monkey D. Garp, and the world's greatest swordsman, Dracule Mihawk. Who is stronger and who would win in a fight? Read on to find out.
Thanks to his physical strength and resilience, Monkey D. Garp would be able to defeat Dracule Mihawk in a direct fight. There is no doubt that Mihawk is a much better swordsman than Garp, and Garp himself is aware that he can do nothing against him in this category. But Garp's physical powers far surpass Mihawk's, and he is a better Haki user; on top of that, his endurance is so high that he would likely be able to push through Mihawk's attacks and then use his monstrous strength to crush the swordsman to the ground, thus winning the game.
What follows is, of course, a detailed analysis of the answer we gave you above. We will describe Monkey D. Garp and Dracule Mihawk in more detail, giving you an in-depth analysis of the issue at hand and the balance of power between the two characters using our usual formula. Through several categories, you will see who is the stronger of the two and why our answer is the way it is, that is, why we truly believe that Garp would indeed be able to defeat Mihawk, despite the latter being the greatest swordsman in the world.
Physical abilities
Garp has extremely powerful fists. In fact, they are so powerful that even though Luffy was made of rubber, he was able to injure him and cause him extreme pain with a single blow. Furthermore, even though Marco was in his Phoenix form throughout the war, Garp was still able to injure him, which speaks for itself. He has stated that during his training for Chinjao, he actually destroyed a total of eight mountains.
Garp also possesses remarkable durability, as evidenced by the fact that he was attacked by Captain Morgan and managed to withstand a slash from his axe. He has proven to be extremely fast, perhaps even faster than CP9 agent Soru, as evidenced by the ease with which he passed through each Straw Hat in order to wake Luffy in time.
Mihawk is the most powerful swordsman on the entire planet thanks to his formidable superhuman physical strength and mastery of swordsmanship. Both an ice mountain and battleships can be easily destroyed by Mihawk's instantaneous bursts of compressed air or extremely powerful energy streams, which have enormous range.
He was also able to stop Zoro, a powerful and ferocious swordsman, with just the knife he held in one hand. Mihawk has strong jumping ability and is incredibly agile. He moves quickly enough to compensate for the increased speed of Luffy's Gear Second. In addition, he possesses fast reflexes.
There's no denying that Mihawk is powerful, but compared to Garp's brute strength, his superhuman abilities simply aren't enough. Garp is a true monster in this category, and only a few characters can truly measure up to him (he was on par with the late Roger), so Garp clearly wins this point.

Devil Fruit
Monkey D. Garp is actually one of the few characters with such a high power level but without Devil Fruit abilities. Ultimately, we don't have anything more to say about this category, at least as far as Monkey D. Garp is concerned, as he has never consumed a Devil Fruit in his life, so there really isn't much to add here.
This also applies to Dracule Mihawk. Since Dracule Mihawk has achieved everything he has achieved so far without a Devil Fruit (or without using his Devil Fruit abilities, but that's currently just a conspiracy theory), he falls into the same category as Garp in this aspect, and there's nothing to add here either.
We usually distribute points into such categories, but we won't go into that here. Indeed, since this isn't the first time we've encountered a situation where no character has anything to offer in a category, we already have a way of deciding points here, and that is, no one scores any points.

RIGHT
Garp can use Haki because he's a Vice Admiral, and that seems to be a prerequisite for this. First, we can confirm that Garp is capable of using Observation Haki. Dr. Fishbonen advised Koby to ask Garp for help learning Observation Haki as soon as he wakes up, as Garp is qualified to teach it to others.
Garp regularly injured Luffy despite his rubber body, proving his proficiency with Armament Haki. He also demonstrated his mastery of Conqueror's Haki during a recent encounter with Kuzan, placing him in a very exclusive club of characters capable of using all three varieties of Haki.
Mihawk can use at least two of the three types of Haki. Mihawk's ability to easily track Luffy while using Gear Second demonstrates his mastery of Observation Haki. Like Zoro when facing Pica, he is capable of using Armament Haki. His mastery in this area allows him to imbue his blades with Armament Haki, transforming them into significantly more powerful black blades. He may possibly use Conqueror's Haki, but this has not yet been proven.
Of course, Mihawk could be able to use all three types of Haki, but until it's officially confirmed, Garp definitely wins this category. Mihawk's Haki skills are truly astounding, as is Garp's, and the fact that he's also able to use Conqueror's Haki gives him the final edge in this category.

Weapons
So far, Garp has been seen firing cannonballs (including a huge one) with just his hands, and that's it as far as he and his weapons are concerned. He can attack with so many different tools that he can even use his fists as weapons. He's similar to his grandson Luffy in that he doesn't use weapons in combat and relies almost entirely on physical power (and Haki). He's undoubtedly a better weapon user than Luffy, who is a terrible weapon user, but we don't think he ranks among the best in the series.
Yoru, a black sword, is Mihawk's primary weapon. Yoru is a single-edged, human-sized sword with a cross on the tip. He only draws this sword when someone challenges him for his title and has the courage or strength to do so; otherwise, his Kogatana suffices.
He also wears a small cross-shaped pendant around his neck. When combined with his swordsmanship, this can be a deadly weapon that can defeat any ordinary or lower-level swordsman, including Zoro, who used three swords in combat, despite the fact that he is shown using it as a tool for eating.
There's absolutely no doubt that Mihawk wins this last category, and it makes perfect sense. First of all, there isn't a better weapon user than Mihawk in the entire series, and secondly, Garp sucks at using weapons, so it's more than obvious that Mihawk clearly wins this one.
Points: Garp 2, Mihawk 1
Garp's durability would likely be the main aspect that would ensure his victory, even against an opponent as skilled as Mihawk.
The points give Monkey D. Garp a slight advantage in this fight, and we can only agree with that in the end, just as we agree with the conclusions of each category. Of course, there's no doubt that Mihawk outperforms Garp in the final category, and their skills with the two Haki they both know are of a very similar level, but Garp has significant advantages.
First, Monkey D. Garp can use Conqueror's Haki, and while its effects would likely be limited on Mihawk, as Mihawk himself is incredibly strong, it is something that nonetheless gives Garp an advantage.
Secondly, Garp's stamina is absolutely incredible, and we honestly think it would be enough to overcome Mihawk's attacks and cuts. Sure, Garp would definitely take some damage in this battle, but in the end, he would be able to endure it and reach Mihawk, and as soon as he did, he would use his enormous strength to crush Mihawk to the ground and defeat him.
