Gintoki Sakata Gintama - Figures

A series as iconic as Gintama depends on an equally iconic main character. Gintoki Sakata fits the description perfectly with his lazy demeanor, bizarre antics, fiery rage, and fierce devotion to his friends. The former samurai has amassed a large fanbase in the 17 years since Gintama's debut. His popularity is a testament to the large number of figures of him among Gintama merchandise. With such a large cast, including many female characters, his dominant presence as the main male character in the stock of available figures sets it apart from similar series. However, the three best Gintoki figures available are "GEM Series Gintama Gintoki Sakata Suit Ver.", "DXF Gintama Gintoki Sakata," and "Q Posket Gintama Gintoki."

Gintama Costume Gintoki Sakata Ver. (GEM Series)

Megahouse's debonair figure transforms Gintoki into the eye candy fans only dreamed of. While Gintama featured many costume gags, an outfit as stylish as this well-tailored suit often lost its elegance following a nose-picking visual. However, in this figure, fans can see Gintoki dressed to the nines in a tailored jacket with a pocket square and derby shoes. His true mischievous personality still shines through with his wild hair and sly smile. He sits atop a silver 3D statue of the kanji "gin" (the first in his name, which also means money). His legs are crossed with his hands clasped together. The shine of his fingernails shows the high level of detail that went into painting this figure. As a final touch, the figure includes removable goggles to complete his premium look.

Gintama Gintoki Figure (Q Posket)

This chibi version of Gintoki from Banpresto's Q Posket line offers fans the choice between two color combinations: color and sepia tone. Both versions feature Gintoki in his classic yukata and his trusty wooden katana, Bokuto, slung over his shoulder. In a cute chibi style, Gintoki's usually narrow eyes are now larger and rounder, a rarity among Gintoki figures. However, unlike traditional cute figures, the Q Posket line maintains a linear quality. This allows for a curve in the figure's posture, giving off Gintoki's characteristically relaxed air.

About Gintoki Sakata

Gintoki Sakata is an eccentric and enigmatic ex-samurai living in an unusual version of Edo. In this Edo, aliens called "Amanto" have invaded, essentially ruling the country in an unequal agreement with the shogun. Gintoki's main concern, however, is something very familiar: paying the rent. Once a highly skilled samurai, Gintoki is now extremely lazy, wishing to spend his days reading magazines and feeding false information to his junior employees. Despite his bewildered expressions and lazy tendencies, Gintoki's past failures continue to haunt him. Sometimes portrayed as a coward for the sake of comedy, Gintoki would easily give his life for his friends. His charisma and easygoing attitude have earned him a large family and many fans.

Other important characters in Gintama

Shinpachi Shimura is a samurai-in-training and a member of the Yorozuya. He is often teased for his domestic tendencies to take care of others, his lack of physical strength, and his attachment to his sister, Tae. Early in the series, debt collectors from Amanto kidnapped Tae to make her work as a repayment worker at a flying nightclub. Gintoki helped Shinpachi rescue his sister, allowing him to become a full-time employee at Yorozuya and become involved in Gintoki's schemes. Since the rest of the Yorozuya and his friends often act in very comical ways, Shinpachi is known for his "tsukkomi" or "straight man" behavior.

Kagura is a member of the Amanto Yato tribe, known for their superhuman strength. After the disappearance of her brother and father and the death of her mother, Kagura travels to Earth in search of a human husband. Upon arrival, Kagura joins a human gang interested in her strength, but grows tired of their violence and runs away. While fleeing, Gintoki crashes into her with his motorcycle, and Shinpachi convinces him to help. Kagura's former gang attacks them, and Gintoki saves the group with his samurai skills. Kagura is impressed by Gintoki's abilities and ways of bushido and joins the Yorozuya. She and Gintoki develop a sisterly relationship over time.
