Hange Zoe - Attack on Titan

Hange Zoe is a long-time member of the Survey Corps , being appointed as the 14th commander by Erwin Smith before his death in Chapter 57 of the manga . She also led the Survey Corps ' Fourth Squad in the past, which played a significant role in the Female Titan Arc in the mission to capture the Female Titan.

Hange is very active in Titan research and innovative scientific experiments. She shows great interest in Eren Yeager after discovering that he is capable of transforming into a Titan and plays an important role in gaining new knowledge about Titans and helping Eren understand his abilities as a Titan Shifter.

As the current commander of the Survey Corps, Hange assumed the responsibilities previously held by Erwin Smith such as the execution, planning, and management of the Survey Corps.

Appearance

Hange always wears square glasses with an elastic band around her head, but outside of missions, she wears oval-shaped glasses. She is quite tall for a woman in the series, has brown eyes, and medium-length hair, but is always tied back in a ponytail with bangs and is quite messy, which shows her busy personality. Most of the time, Hange wears the Reconnaissance Regiment uniform with a shirt underneath and the regiment's green cape over it.

Suffering from an eye injury Arc returned to Shiganshina from the explosion caused by Bertold Hoover who is the former wielder of the Colossal Titan before Armin Arlelt Hange now wears a black eyepatch over her left eye.

Personality

Hange Zoe is known for her "mad scientist" personality and is often described as a Titan Freak. She is emotionally intense and energetic, often referred to as Levi for her originality. But at the same time, she is able to make rational, quick, and sound decisions in serious situations thanks to her ability to keep a cool and calm head, which is why she was a suitable candidate to be the next commander to Erwin None.

Hange plays a key role in the inventions and explanations of the mysteries revealed throughout the series. Thanks to her intelligence and knowledge, she is able to solve complex problems and is very good at developing a plan for the unit to implement. However, due to her emotional intensity, she is very scary when angry. We can see this when she tries to force Pastor Nick to cough up information by threatening to push him off the Sina wall, where he is inches from falling. However, she also shows her happy and cheerful nature when she is excited.

Hange was driven to curiosity about Titans after seeing their abnormality after joining the Reconnaissance Regiment. Initially hating Titans, she later becomes extreme in her Titan research, sometimes showing compassion towards them. In episode 15 of the Attack on Titans anime, when the captured Titans named Sawney and Beane for experiments were killed, Hange was brought to tears and had a breakdown of disappointment.

How Eren Transforms into a Titan
Hange is the one who solved the mystery behind Eren's Titan transformation being ignited, Eren himself was unaware of what triggered his Titan transformation. During her experiments on Eren, she is unable to understand the trigger for his Titan transformation for a while and the Special Ops Squad that is also with Hange and Eren did not have solid trust in Eren, being on guard at all times and even ready to eliminate Eren at the drop of a coin. After Eren picks up a spoon with an injured hand, his arm transformed into a Titan form, Hange who is full of excitement touches the transformed arm which then burns her. The rest of the squad is on alert and in position to protect themselves, Hange, on the other hand, is full of joy and excitement despite being burned simply by touching the arm. She concluded from seeing the spoon clutched by Eren's Titan arm that Eren's Titan form is triggered when he has a clear goal in mind. This makes sense of his transformations before this experience; previously, he was able to transform with the clear goal of trying to protect Mikasa and Armin.

She has no problem getting close to Titans as she has a very impressive reaction time to dodge them easily.
