Synopsis

Dreaming of becoming hula dancers, first-year middle school student Suzu and her classmate Fumi start a hula club, but they quickly lose momentum and end up lazing around every day. However, they are reinvigorated when other girls who all share the same dream start attending the club, including a transfer student from Finland named Mona. From now on, the girls begin their challenging days by training hard to achieve their dream of becoming hula dancers.

Background

Hula Babies is an original anime produced by Fukushima Gaina. The anime will consist of short 5-minute episodes and will air in Japan on January 10, 2019, on TV Tokyo.

Characters

Suzu (Voice of: Haruka Yoshimura)

A girl full of energy and good humor who always does her best. She founded the Hulaing Babies to liven up her town. She is easily influenced by Mona.

Shiina (Voice of: Rikako Yamaguchi)

The peacemaker of the group, Shiina has a cool, adult attitude and is very tolerant of others.

Mona (Voiced by: Suzuko Mimori)

Originally from Europe, Mona moved to Fukushima when her father changed jobs.

Fumi (Voiced by: Mikoi Sasaki)

Intelligent and hardworking, Fumi is the one the other girls turn to for advice when they have a problem. Although she's bad at dancing, she joins the group at Mona's request.

Nagisa (Voiced by: Bridcutt Sarah Emi)

Nagisa is a slender girl with a straightforward personality, often mistaken for a boy. She is positive and doesn't worry about details.

Moé (Voice of: Moe Toyota)

Moe plays the ukulele in a band called Ukulele Babies with Miku.

Miku (Voiced by: Miku Ito)

Miku plays in a band called Ukulele Babies with Moe.

King (Voiced by: Amami Kokumai)

A childhood friend of Suzu and a member of the Hularion Girls, the rival group of the Hulaing Babies.
