Ichigo has had a strong instinct to protect those he loves since he was young. At first, as a teenager, he appears rebellious and detached from others. However, he is actually a kind and compassionate person. When Rukia transfers her power to Ichigo to help him defeat a Hollow, he transforms into a soul reaper.

After becoming a Soul Reaper, he quickly warms up to the idea despite some initial reluctance. He often ends up risking his life to protect those he cares about, sometimes even strangers. Throughout the series, Ichigo constantly fights to protect those around him, and we see him adapt to his new powers.

About Ichigo Kurosaki: Abilities

Ichigo possesses immense spiritual strength. So much so that he was able to defeat a Gillian without awakening his full power. His Zanpakuto is called Zangetsu and was originally oversized but resembled a simple katana. Zangetsu's Shikai form featured an oversized khyber knife rather than a katana. The Shikai form had a black blade with a silver edge, and the cloth covering reacted to Ichigo's will. Getsuga Tensho is a unique ability possessed by Zangetsu. Rukia Kuchiki

When a desperate situation arises, she is forced to transfer some of her power to Ichigo so he can fight in her place. However, during the transfer of her power, she accidentally transfers more than intended, leaving her unable to return to Soul Society. It is Rukia who teaches Ichigo the Soul Reaper powers. Ichigo also chases Rukia to save her from execution when she is brought back to Soul Society.

Orihime Inoue

Orihime is also one of Ichigo's best friends and develops spiritual powers after Ichigo saves her from Acidwire. She is a friendly and kind but naive person and uses her power to help others. She also joins Ichigo when they go to Soul Society to rescue Rukia and is constantly there to assist Ichigo and his adventures.

Renji Abarai

Renji is a Soul Reaper from Squad 6. He was sent to the human world to find Rukia and bring her back to Soul Society. He fights Ichigo when he is in the human world to take Rukia and when Ichigo arrives at Soul Society to rescue Rukia, as he initially blames Ichigo for Rukia's grief. He eventually comes to Ichigo's aid and becomes a strong ally to Ichigo and constantly helps him throughout the series.

Uryû Ishida

Uryu is a classmate of Ichigo Kurosaki, who turns out to be a Quincy, a clan of humans that was destroyed by the Soul Reapers. Although he believes the Soul Reapers are corrupt and liars, they form a friendship after fighting alongside Ichigo and Rukia to stop a Hollow invasion. He is seen fighting alongside Ichigo in many fight scenes.
