Koi to Uso (Love and Lies)
Summary
Lying is bad, but loving is worse. Koi to Uso None (Love and Lies ) takes place in a world where marriages are arranged by the Japanese government via the "Yukari Law" in order to improve the health of the next generation and combat the country's declining birth rate. A compatibility calculation based on genetics is used to do this, and when both partners turn 16, they are informed of their arrangement.
The penalties for not following this system are severe, and as his 16th birthday approaches, Yukari Nejima realizes he doesn't have much time left to confess to Misaki Takazaki, his classmate and crush of five years. It turns out she shares his feelings, but what should be a happy romance turns tragic when he is assigned his partner: Lilina Sanada, a smart and beautiful girl from the literature club at his all-girls school. Lilina is no happier with this arrangement than Yukari, but if they agree to keep up appearances to avoid trouble, she gives him permission to experience love with Misaki.
This series was first published as a manga by Musawo in Kodansha Magazine Shonen Comics. In August 2014, six volumes were published, and in June 2017, a live-action film directed by Takeshi Furusawa starring Aoi Morikawa, Yuto Shiba, and Sosuke Takachino was scheduled for release later that year.
