Yuki Konno, recorded as Yuuki in Serene Garden, Asuka Empire, Insect Site, and ALfheim Online , was a main character in the Mother Rosario side story and the main character in the Sisters' Prayer side story in the Sword Art Online series.

Yuuki was one of the three founders of the Sleeping Knights guild, a group of terminally ill patients who met in the virtual hospice Serene Garden and decided to explore VRMMOs together for fun.

In Salvation, Yuuki dueled people for a reward and earned the name Absolute Sword because 67 players lost the duel with her, including Kirito, and none won. She also created an original 11-hit combo sword skill called Mother's Rosario.

She died connected ALO smiling in Asuna's arms with her friends and a thousand other players sending her.

Biography

Personality

Yuuki refused to be discouraged by the progression of her illness and enjoyed herself as much as she could. She believed and taught Asuna that some things can only be transmitted through conflict.

Background

Yuuki was born by cesarean section, but she accidentally lost a lot of blood and needed a blood transfusion. The blood had been infected with HIV, and her entire family was infected before anyone realized it. Life became a constant struggle and suffering for Yuuki. In fourth grade, her immune system weakened, and she lived in the hospital.

In February 2023, after contracting esophageal candidiasis, Dr. Kurahashi offered Yuuki the chance to test a new Medicuboid prototype, the FullDive medical device. Yuuki accepted despite numerous objections. SAO Incident, the physical solitude of a sterile room, and concerns about infection.

Chronology

Prayer of the Sisters

On May 11, 2024, in Serene Garden, Ran told Yuuki that there was a government plan to break into all the players' SAO Nerve Gears and destroy the batteries at the exact same time. Yuuki recalled that her family had managed to spend some time together in SereGa before their deaths.

On May 12th, Yuuki entered AE with her older sister and became a swordswoman. She enjoyed the experience and was happy.

On May 16th, Yuuki changed classes to samurai and was praised by her friend Merida. She began to think that her gaming skills were due to the improved FullDive device.

On May 23, Merida took Aiko's modified Nerve Gear in preparation for entering SAO, but the situation was resolved. Yuuki fought Merida in a duel in AE to convey the enjoyment of the experience.

Mother's Rosario

In Salvation, Yuuki challenged anyone who wanted to, betting on her eleven-move skill. On January 7, 2026, Asuna challenged her. She lost, but Yuuki was impressed and asked her to join the Sleeping Knights to help defeat the boss of New Aincrad's 27th floor, inscribing their names in the hall of fame at the Swordsman Monument. Asuna agreed to be their healer in exchange for dropped loot as payment.

On January 8th, just as they were about to lose their battle, Asuna noticed surveillance magic in action and deduced that they didn't have much recovery time to restart the fight before someone else used their battle data. They found a dozen players blocking the boss's path, with dozens more arriving. With Kirito and Klein joining them to buy time, the group fought their way through and faced the boss again. After much struggle, Asuna realized the boss's weakness, and Yuuki acted accordingly to finish him off, calling Asuna "sister" without realizing it.

Asuna wanted to get to know Yuuki better, but SK was acting awkward about it, and when she offered to join SK for real, it became even more awkward. They were taking a picture in front of the Monument, and Yuuki called Asuna "sister" again. When asked, she cried and logged out.

On January 11th, Kirito and Asuna found Yuuki in real life, so Asuna went to see her at the hospital. Yuuki was happy that Asuna hadn't avoided her after learning the truth from the doctor, and they met in ALO. Asuna learned the truth about SK and offered to help Yuuki visit the real school with a camera module.

On January 12th, the teachers and classmates welcomed Yuuki. That evening, Asuna helped Yuuki see her old house before it was demolished. In return, Yuuki's confrontational approach and advice helped Asuna resolve her own situation as a mother.

On March 29, 2026, Yuuki was dying and wanted to meet Asuna in SO. Yuuki then gave her skill to Asuna and died peacefully with over a thousand friends and people paying tribute to the Absolute Sword.

Yuuki and Kirito found themselves in an area in the sky above Aincrad, and Yuuki discovered it was SAO. Kirito told her he had completed the game, and Yuuki challenged him to a First Strike duel. Kirito won, and she promised she would find him once she was stronger. Then she disappeared.
