Synopsis

The life of video game enthusiast Kazuma ends too soon when he is killed in a traffic accident. Unexpectedly, he is reincarnated in an RPG-like fantasy world, where he is drawn into the life of an adventurer. There, he forms a party with a troublemaking and dim-witted goddess named Aqua, an arch-sailor with a penchant for explosions and a bad case of chunibyo named Megumin, and a masochistic crusader named Darkness. One day, a Crimson Demon girl named Yunyun rushes in and drops an explosive announcement on Kazuma and the others: she wants to have Kazuma's babies! Upon listening, she tells them that her and Megumin's hometown, Crimson Demon Village, is about to face imminent destruction. Kazuma and the group agree to help save the village, but little do they know that they are about to face their greatest threat yet!

Characters

Kazuma (Voice of: Jun Fukushima)

Kazuma, a 16-year-old video game enthusiast, is killed in a car accident while returning home after buying a video game. He wakes up to find himself reincarnated in an RPG-like fantasy world. Although his vital stats are average, he has high intelligence and luck. He becomes an adventurer and forms a party with Aqua, then Megumin and Darkness. Although his initial quest is to defeat the Demon King, he just wants to earn enough money to live comfortably as a lazy bum.

Aqua (Voiced by: Sora Amamiya)

A water goddess and archpriest, Aqua takes Kazuma to the fantasy world and is drawn into his party after mocking his death. She has good magic stats but very low intelligence and luck. As a result, she often rushes into situations without thinking about the consequences, and she prefers to spend her skill points learning useless tricks rather than skills that will actually help the party. As an archpriest, she is powerful against demons and undead, and can resurrect the recently deceased.

Megumin (Voiced by: Rie Takahashi)

Megumin, a 13-year-old Arch-Manage of the Scarlet Demon race, is a powerful Arch-Manage with a penchant for explosions. She suffers from a severe case of chunibyo and refuses to learn any spells other than the single explosion spell she knows, which immediately depletes her mana and renders her unable to cast it each time she uses it.

Darkness (Voiced by: Ai Kayano)

Darkness, an 18-year-old fighter, is powerful in both offense and defense, but she usually misses. Her real name is Lalatina Ford Dustiness, and she is a noblewoman from the influential Dustiness family who becomes a fighter against her father's wishes. A masochist at heart, she dreams of being ravaged by the Demon King and delights in the insults hurled at her. To onlookers, she may appear heroic and dignified, but her "heroic" acts only serve to satisfy her masochistic desires.

Yunyun (Voice of: Aki Toyosaki)

A former classmate of Megumin, Yunyun is the daughter of the leader of the Purple Demons. Unlike Megumin, she does not suffer from chunibyo, which leads to her being ostracized by her chunibyo peers. She is a highly skilled archiconage who forms a rivalry with Megumin.

Komekko (Voice of: Maria Naganawa)

Megumin's little sister, Komekko, is 5 years old and resembles a smaller, younger version of Megumin. She has an insatiable appetite and is always looking for food. She respects her older sister and shows promise as an Archwitch, and Megumin believes she will grow up to be something great.

Vanir (Voice of: Masakazu Nishida)

Vanir, the Demon King's general, is a far-sighted demon who can read anything about anyone. Before taking over Wiz's magic shop from Axel, he transforms a previously cleared dungeon into his hideout, luring adventurers with the prospect of finding treasure by defeating him, but instead they find a piece of paper mocking them.

Moon (Voiced by: Sayuri Hara)

A receptionist at Axel's guild, Luna helps adventurers register and offers them quests. Although she is attractive and busty, she is too busy with her work to pursue romantic interests.

Ace (Voiced by: Yui Horie)

A powerful lich sorceress and former general of the Devil King, Wiz is shy and kind and uses her powers to help civilians and escort lost spirits to the afterlife. She also runs, albeit unsuccessfully, a magic shop in Axel that is later taken over by Vanir.

Brute (Voiced by: Tetsu Inada)

Ruffian is a remarkable man, tall, burly, and sporting a mohawk. He resides in Axel and tends to appear at important moments. We later learn that he is a simple weaver.
