Leafa (Suguha Kirigaya) Sword Art Online - Figures

The Sword Art Online franchise is a popular series that now spans multiple media, but originally began in 2002 as a web novel written by Reki Kawahara. In 2009, however, the series was published by Dengeki Bunko, with Reki Kawahara still writing. The light novel series became so popular with readers that an anime adaptation of the series was produced and aired three years later in 2012. Since then, several anime adaptations, spin-offs, video games, and other merchandise have also been produced. One character in particular, Leafa (also known as Suguha Kirigaya), has been recreated into many different figurines, a staple of otaku collectibles. Among the dozens of renditions of Leafa, some of the most popular include the "Sword Art Online: Alicization Leafa: Ex-Chronicle Ver. Limited Premium Figure”, the “EXQ Figure Sword Art Online: Code Register Wedding Suguha” and the “figma Sword Art Online II Leafa”.

Sword Art Online: Alicization Leafa: Premium Figure Ex-Chronicle Ver. Limited

This figure from Sega's limited Premium Figure line features Leafa in a unique outfit designed specifically for Ex-Chronicle, a Sword Art Online event created to celebrate its 10th anniversary. This outfit includes an elegant black and green dress with a pleated skirt, as well as a gold bracelet, matching high heels, and a ribbon used to tie her blonde hair into a ponytail. She also holds a katana in her right hand, which also hints at her history with kendo. The figure itself is posed standing with one foot slightly higher than the other. One hand is also raised in front of her, almost as if she is inviting the audience to the celebration.

EXQ Sword Art Online Figure: Wedding Suguha Figure Registration Code

This figurine depicts Leafa's real-life counterpart, Suguha Kirigaya, in a beautiful wedding dress. Her design is based on a variation of Suguha that appears in one of the mobile games released for Android and iOS in 2014, named Sword Art Online: Registration Code . This dress, like many others, is primarily white but features several pastel green sections, a nod to Leafa's color palette. The outfit also includes a matching white and green bouquet that Suguha delicately holds in front of her with both hands. The outfit is also completed with a crown with an attached veil, completing the wedding aesthetic.

Sword Art Online II Leafa Figure

This figure from Max Factory's popular figma line recreates Leafa as she originally appears in Sword Art Online. Her outfit includes a long green and white dress, tall brown boots, and a flower-shaped headband that she uses to tie her hair back into a ponytail. Like many other items in the figma line, this figure is highly articulated, especially in the arms and legs. This allows users to pose Leafa in different ways and recreate iconic scenes from the series. Additionally, the figure's included optional parts help users customize the figure even further. These additional parts include three different facial expressions, Leafa's longsword, articulated wings, the medallion used to obtain Excalibur, and a working hand that allows the Kirito figma figure to hold hands. An articulated stand also helps users prevent the figure from falling over.

About Leafa (Suguha Kirigaya)

Although they are blood cousins, Suguha Kirigaya is the adopted sister of Sword Art Online protagonist Kirito (Kazuto Kirigaya). Together, they were raised by Suguha's mother and grandfather. Growing up, Kirito and Suguha were both forced to learn kendo by her grandfather. After Kirito lost interest in kendo, Suguha turns to her grandfather and promises to work hard enough for both of them so that Kirito can pursue his own interests without her grandfather interfering. Her role in the series was rather limited in the Aincrad arc. However, she became a much more prominent character after Kirito began playing ALfheilm Online. Here, she acted as a guide for Kirito, as he knew almost nothing about the world he was just entering. After realizing that Kirito is Kazuto, she becomes conflicted with her feelings, but eventually overcomes them and comes to his aid as an ally.

Other Important Sword Art Online Characters

After the Fairy Dance arc is resolved, Kirito introduces Leafa to the other friends who helped him through the Aincrad arc, namelyAsuna , Silica, and Lisbeth. This group gets along surprisingly well, and its members are often seen spending time together at the Dicey Cafe in the real world. Leafa, Silica, and Lisbeth are also the main characters of Sword Art Online: Girl Ops , one of the Sword Art Online spin-off series.
