Light Novel - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Released on October 4, 2019, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Shiawase no Hana is the first spin-off light novel of the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) manga and anime series, and runs 194 pages. Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katahane no Chō is the second light novel produced by the manga series and runs 224 pages. As franchise novels under Shueisha's "Jump j Books" label, both Kimetsu no Yaiba: Shiawase no Hana and Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kataha no Chō light novels cover parts of the character's backstory that were not revealed in the original series. The Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kataha no Chō light novel and the Kimetsu no Yaiba: Shiawase no Hana light novels were both written by Koyoharu Gotouge and Aya Yajima. The setting of Kimetsu no Yaiba light novel 720 and Demon Slayer light novel 320 takes place before the events of the main manga series. The light novels provide a detailed and action-packed look at the life and background of the main protagonist Tanjiro Kamado and the other supporting characters.

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Shiawase no Hana Synopsis

Set in a time before the start of the main series, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Shiawase no Hana gives a glimpse into the life of the main character, Tanjiro Kamado. The lives of Zenitsu Agatsuma , Aoi Kanzaki, and Kanao Tsuyuri are also observed. The light novel highlights the story of Tanjiro's relationship with his sister, Nezuko Kamado . The story of what happened when Zenitsu Agatsuma first fought a demon is revealed. Also revealed are the secrets of the events that occurred at the Butterfly Estate with Aoi Kanzaki and Kanao Tsuyuri. Finally, a section of the novel tells the story of an alternate universe to Kimetsu Gakuen, which was introduced as a spin-off of the original series.

Characters

Tanjiro Kamado - The main character and a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, who initially joined the team to seek revenge for the massacre of his family. His abilities include an enhanced sense of smell, combat ability, increased strength, immense speed, immense reflexes, the crimson Nichirin Blade, the Transparent World, and the Demon Slayer Mark.
Zenitsu Agatsuma - One of the main characters and friend of Tanjiro Kamado. Zenitsu Agatsuma is a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. His abilities include enhanced hearing and unconscious combat.
Aoi Kanzaki - An assistant at the Butterfly Estate, and also a less active Demon Slayer who initially trained Tanjiro Kamado. Her abilities include medical knowledge and above-average strength.
Kanao Tsuyuri - A resident of the Butterfly Domain, and also a Demon Slayer. She keeps a coin with her, which she tosses to help her decide which path to take in uncertain circumstances. Kanao is the only confirmed Tsuguko in the series. Her abilities include superhuman eyesight and a full-concentration breathing style.

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kataha no chō Synopsis

Set one hour before two sisters, Shinobu Kocho and Kanae Kocho joined the Demon Slayer Corps, Kimetsu no Yaiba: Kataha no Chō chronicles the lives of both of them, including after their meeting with Gyomei Himejima. The light novel focuses on the story of young Kanae and Shinobu, and their determination to avenge the murder of their parents by demons. The light novel tells the story of the two sisters and the events that lead Shinobu and Kanae Kocho to commit to becoming demon slayers. The story behind Mitsuri Kanroji and Giyu Tomioka's relationship is also revealed, including a section from Gakuen's alternate universe "Kimetsu Gakuen."

Characters

Shinobu Kocho - Kanae Kocho's younger sister, a Demon Slayer who was the Pillar of the Insects. Along with her sister, she saved Kanao Tsuyuri. Her abilities include mastery of swordsmanship, medical expertise, immense speed, and enhanced strength.
Kanae Kocho - Shinobu Kocho's older sister and former Flower Pillar. Along with her sister Shinobu, she discovered Kanao, whom she took to the Butterfly Estate. Her abilities include swordsmanship and the Breath of Flower fighting style.
Gyomei Himejima - The Stone Pillar, and affiliated with the Demon Slayer Corps. Grew up training orphaned children at a temple located in a dangerous, demon-prone area. His abilities include mastery of swordsmanship, immense strength, immense reflexes, immense stamina, enhanced hearing, the crimson Nichirin Blade, the Demon Slayer Mark, and the Transparent World.
Mitsuri Kanroji - A demon slayer and the pillar of love. An emotional member of the Demon Slayer Corp with the Breath of Love fighting style. Her abilities include mastery of swordsmanship, enhanced speed, a unique constitution, flexibility, and the Demon Slayer mark.
Giyu Tomioka - He is a Demon Slayer and Water Pillar, who is also affiliated with the Demon Slayer Corps. He is a serious killer with the Breath of Water fighting style. His abilities include mastery of swordsmanship, enhanced speed, the crimson Nichirin Blade, and the Demon Slayer's Mark.
