Marina Inoue Voice Actress – Attack on Titan
Marina Inoue (井上 麻里奈, Inoue Marina), was born on January 20, 1985, in Tokyo, Japan. Marina Inoue is a young, established Japanese voice actress and singer who is currently affiliated with the agency Sigma Seven after signing with Aniplex until 2007. She made her debut after winning an audition called "Gonna be a star" held by Sony Music Entertainment Japan for a role in the OVA The Portrait of Little Cossette. After being chosen first out of 2,000 other people, she continued to develop her voice acting career not only in anime television series, but also in games, animated films, and live-action films.
Inoue is best known for playing girls with deep, coarse voices and some male voices. She is best known for her roles as Armin Arlert from Attack on Titan , Yoko Littner from Gurren Lagann, Yozora Mikazuki from Haganai, and Tohka Yatogami from Date A Live.
Voice of Armin Arlert
In the Attack on Titan franchise series, Marina Inoue plays the voice of Armin Arlelt , a young boy of short stature, blond hair, and frail build. His role in the anime series is that of a strong intellect with wit and a general good sense of teamwork. He is often known to be the strategist of the group and devises the best solution for every crisis against Titans he eventually joins his corps mates.
Inoue stated in an interview that she was very grateful for the opportunity to play the role of Armin Arlelt. This reminded her of the reason she started voice acting in the first place. Inoue was inspired by a voice actress named Megumi Ogata, who has played characters of completely different genders, from a high school girl to a full-fledged male role. One of Ogata's most famous roles is that of the main protagonist Shinji Ikari in a popular mecha robot anime series called Neon Genesis Evangelion. She said, "It made me realize what it means to be a voice actress, and ever since then, I've wanted to play a male role in both drama and anime."
Story of Marina Inoue
Inoue was born in Tokyo, Japan, and attended a private school in Shinjuku called Gakushuin Primary School. She graduated from Gakushuin University with a degree in law and politics. The reason she started voice acting was because she always wanted to play the voice of a male role. In high school, she joined a drama club where she always played the male role, but shortly after joining university, she ended up not receiving any male roles. Despite this, she continued to pursue her goals, and her passion for wanting a male role drove her to become a voice actress.
Inoue made her debut as a voice actress and singer after being chosen from 2,000 people in Sony Music Entertainment Japan's "Gonna Be a Star" auditions for the title role in the OVA "The Portrait of Little Cossette." In addition to making her debut as a voice actress, this role was significant because she was also chosen to sing the OVA's opening theme song, titled "Houseki."
Participating in the audition, let alone winning it, was something Inoue had never considered. During her two years of college, she had planned to find a part-time job, and after graduation, she envisioned herself applying to a voice acting school and paying for her tuition with the money she had saved. She had participated in the audition out of pure curiosity, in which she could measure herself against others. It turned out to be a life-changing experience and event.
