As a member of Hololive, Minato Aqua is a VTuber who enjoys a variety of different activities, such as singing, streaming games, and chatting with viewers. However, Aqua is particularly known for her competitive nature and surprising skill when it comes to playing player-versus-player games.

History of Minato Aqua

Minato Aqua debuted on YouTube on August 8, 2018, and portrayed herself as an innocent maid who loves playing video games. Shortly after revealing her 3D model on April 8, 2019, she appeared as a guest on the Super Bilibili VUP stage with Murasaki Shion None Shirakami Fubuki None Ookami Mio None Natsuiro Matsuri None Ryûshên , and Shiina Yuika. The following year, she obtained a revised Live2D model and became the second Hololive VTuber to reach the milestone of 500,000 YouTube subscribers. She also held her first solo concert titled "Aqua Iro Super Dream" and released her first original song "Aquairo Palette" on August 21, 2020. In early 2021, Aqua reached 1,000,000 subscribers during a karaoke stream.

Physical Description of Minato Aqua

Minato Aqua is a young girl with long, light purple hair and amethyst eyes. Her main outfit consists of a fairly standard white and navy maid uniform, decorated with matching bows. Her hair is accented with light blue highlights and is usually worn in two spiral ponytails tied with navy blue ribbons. Her outfit's headpiece and dress also feature an anchor, which is likely a pun on her water-themed name.

Throughout her career, Aqua has also received several alternate outfits. Her first Live2D alternate outfit was originally released for New Year's Day 2020. While this outfit still features classic maid outfit elements, this New Year's outfit is a blue kimono with a water ripple pattern decorating it. Her hair is also worn loose except for a side ponytail that is tied with a blue cord. She also received a casual outfit consisting of a school uniform topped with an oversized white jacket. This outfit also replaces her twin tails with a pair of loose braids and a headband.

Minato Aqua's Personality

Although she portrayed herself as a kind-hearted cleaning lady who loved playing video games, she quickly became known for being clumsy and forgetful. Aqua also told her fans that she actually despised housework, contrary to her established character. Her clumsy nature and bad luck also often lead her to throw tantrums, giving her a reputation for being childish at times. That said, Aqua often displays intense determination and technique when it comes to gaming. When discussing why she puts so much effort into playing games, Aqua mentions that she believes she doesn't have much else to offer, so she always does her best to make her streams more enjoyable. Some fans have noticed that her purple hair resembles a red onion and jokingly refer to her as such. This name is sometimes used in tandem with "Baqua," another name given by his viewers that stems from his clumsy and scatterbrained nature.

Associated company

Aqua is a member of Hololive Productions, a VTuber agency owned by Cover Corporation. While Cover Corporation was originally an AR and VR software developer, it shifted its focus to creating virtual idols after the success of characters like Hatsune Miku and Kizuna Ai. In addition to their regular streams, many Hololive members also participate in livestream concerts and collaborations with companies like Lawson, FamilyMart, and more.

APEX Legends

APEX Legends may be a game played by many different VTubers, but Minato Aqua is one of the best players on Hololive, if not the entire VTuber community. Many of her PINNACLE streams involve her attempting to climb all the way to Diamond or not stopping until she reaches a certain number of kills. She also had several grinding streams that lasted over 10 hours each leading up to the Season 8 mid-split at the end of March 2021. Towards the end of these streams, Aqua managed to raise her rank to Diamond I for a brief period, which is generally considered a fairly difficult accomplishment.

King of the jump

Jump King is an indie platform game known for being extremely difficult and typically taking several hours to complete despite its relatively short length. The overall goal of the game is to climb a tower full of difficult-to-cross pits and holes, making it easy to fall. Between July 31st and August 1st, Aqua streamed this particular game for approximately 20 hours. Despite her growing frustration as she continued to fall and lose progress, Aqua showed determination and persevered until the end.
