The Story of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid Series

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid is both an anime and manga series with a comedic and fantastical charm. The plot follows Kobayashi, an office worker and programmer, whose life takes an interesting turn when a large dragon appears right outside her front door. The dragon then transforms before Kobayashi's eyes into a human with dragon horns and a large tail and introduces itself as Tohru. Tohru came to see Kobayashi because she had already encountered the dragon during a drunken excursion the night before. Kobayashi removed a sacred sword from Tohru's back, earning her trust and gratitude. Kobayashi offers Tohru a place to stay in exchange for Tohru becoming his personal maid, thus beginning the journey of Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.

The first manga volume was published by Futabasha in their Monthly Action magazine on May 24, 2013, and is still being published. The anime adaptation of this story was created by Kyoto Animation and directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto. It originally aired from January 11, 2017, to April 6, 2017. The manga was a commercial success, with over 1.2 million copies in print as of February 2018.
