Mother's Rosario is a side story about Asuna and Konno Yuuki set in the new ALfheim Online hosted by Ymir. It covers the period from January 6 to April 4, 2026, corresponding to the Sword Art Online novel volume 7, the manga "Mother's Rosario," and episodes 18 to 24 of the second season of the anime.

History

On the 22nd floor of New Aincrad, it's December 24, 2025, when Asuna the Undine, nicknamed the Berserk Healer, finally realizes her dream of buying back the Forest House she and Kirito had together. The house is now a meeting place for old friends.

January 6, 2026, Asuna, Leaf None Lisbeth , and Silica are in the house, using FullDive to do their homework together. Kirito, Pina, and Yui are piled on top of each other asleep on the fireplace, making everyone else drowsy too. Lisbeth asks Asuna if she's heard of Zekken, the Absolute Sword, explaining that Zekken is the nickname for a player who is unbeatable at swordsmanship. Asuna says she went with her mother to Kyoto and didn't have any equipment to check things online. She thinks about it, and it obviously makes her uncomfortable and distracted. Meanwhile, Zekken turns out to be a challenger who posted a review on MMO Tomorrow, offering an original 11-hit sword skill, but has beaten over thirty players so far, even Kirito who later told Lisbeth that Zekken would take the Dual Blades skill in SAO instead of him as the fastest player, so they never met in SAO.

Asuna logs off to have dinner with her mother, Yuuki Kyōko, who tells her daughter that she is hiring a tutor so Asuna can transfer to a school better than the SAO survivors. Asuna asks about the man she must have met last month, to which her mother replies that marriage is part of a career and she won't let her marry someone inferior, like the people at her current school. Asuna says she will consider transferring, walks out of the room, and just before closing the door, angers Kyōko by asking her if she looked down on the fact that her parents were farmers.

On January 7th, Asuna meets Zekken, a young Imp swordswoman, in New Aincrad on the 24th floor, and they fight on the ground. Zekken's system name is " Konno Yuuki ." Asuna uses her experience to gain an advantage but loses to Yuuki's original sword skill. Yuuki tells a puzzled Asuna that she will.

Yuuki and his Sleeping Knights guild want to make their mark by entering the swordsman hall of fame, for which they want to defeat the 27th floor boss. Asuna wonders why "that black Spriggan with two swords" didn't work for this purpose, to which Yuuki replies that he deduced her secret, then changes the subject and they formulate a strategy against the boss. Asuna leaves the inn and is suddenly forcibly logged out.

Kyōko pulls the plug because Asuna seems "addicted," and Asuna gets angry. She refuses to have dinner tonight. She almost calls Kirito about Yuuki but senses she might weaken during their conversation and says she won't be able to go to ALO ​​or even their school anymore. She decides to be strong after all.

Asuna helps the Sleeping Knights organize tactics using her vast experience and then leaves.

On January 8, 2026, the group gathers in the morning, and Asuna suddenly finds it strange as it's a regular school day, wanting to learn more. After telling Kirito and the others about the dungeon, they explore it until, at the boss room, Asuna finds several invisible members of a guild who say they're simply waiting for their friends in peace after the random encounters. The group continues to face the boss and ultimately loses.

Asuna realizes and tells the group that the people from earlier were part of a guild that spies on other people's boss fights and will clear the floor's boss using the information they gleaned. They have little time to prepare, so they challenge the dungeon again. This time, they find a large group of the same guild members blocking their path and refusing to let them fight. They decide to force their way through, while Yuuki tells Asuna that some things can only be conveyed through confrontation. The rest of the guild runs to catch up, but suddenly Kirito and then Klein make a dramatic appearance and promise to buy them more than enough time. The group breaks through and enters the boss room at the last moment.

Forty minutes later, the group is at an impasse. Asuna recalls a previous random experiment and tests her hypothesis, exposing the boss's weakness. She tells Yuuki about it, and Yuuki says she can do it, accidentally calling Asuna "sister." Yuuki brutalizes the boss, and they leave victorious, much to the dismay of the lighter-skinned guild waiting at the gate. They go to the Forest House, and the Sleeping Knights remember the MMOs they played before this one. Asuna likes them and wants to join the guild, which causes a change in the general mood. The group says they'll be splitting up soon anyway. Later, they take a photo with their names on the Monument, and Yuuki calls Asuna "sister" again, piquing her curiosity. To Asuna's surprise, Yuuki begins to sob and logs out.
