Murasaki Shion is one of the many VTubers managed by Hololive Productions and is often seen streaming a variety of different games like Minecraft , but generally prefers games published by Nintendo. That said, Shion also hosts karaoke streams and celebration streams for events such as debut anniversaries, birthdays, and costume reveals.

Story of Murasaki Shion

Murasaki Shion debuted on YouTube on August 17, 2018, and introduced herself as a dark magician from a powerful family. Approximately a year after her debut, she received a 3D model, her first alternate costume, and a 3D swimsuit costume. Her first major subscriber milestone, 100,000 subscribers, was reached on December 31, 2019, just before the start of the new year. In 2020, her channel began to gain popularity, growing from 100,000 subscribers to 500,000 by the end of the year. During this time, Shion also received a revised Live2D model and another outfit.

Physical description of Murasaki Shion

Murasaki Shion is a young girl with orange and green eyes and long gray hair partially styled in a side bun. Her main outfit consists of a black and white striped long-sleeved shirt that leaves her midriff exposed, matching knee-length socks, and a black and purple coat tied around her neck with a pink bow decorated with a gold star. She also wears a traditional witch's hat that is black and purple and accented with a green checkered pattern along its base.

She also has several alternate costumes that she can use with her 2D model. The first is a more casual dress consisting of a black and purple vest with long white sleeves and a matching skirt with crescent moons at the bottom. Her hair is also styled in buns and she wears a cat-eared headband with green yin and yang symbols on it. Her most recent outfit is a gothic lolita-style dress that is primarily black but accentuated by layers of red and purple fabric. It also has a strong cat theme, as the sleeves of the outfit are shaped to resemble cats, and Shion herself has a cat tail and a pair of cat ears.

Within the Hololive community, Shion is almost universally known for her smug and confident nature. She often enjoys playing pranks and other practical jokes on the other members she collaborates with, but usually only with members she is close enough to and those who know it is all in good fun. One such friend is Minato Aqua , another 2nd generation Hololive member known for his clumsiness and luck. These two have a long-standing friendly rivalry and are often seen playing pranks on each other.

Murasaki Shion is a member of Hololive Production, an agency owned by Cover Corporation. Although the company initially developed augmented reality and virtual reality software, its CEO, Motoaki "Yagoo" Tanigo, was inspired by the previous success of other virtual characters like Kizuna Ai and Hatsune Miku and created the VTuber agency to produce "virtual idols." While most members are allowed to broadcast individually, Hololive members also participate in other large-scale events and collaborations planned by the company. Sometimes, Shion also sets challenges for herself, such as ending her stream as soon as she finishes below a certain position in a race.

Nintendo Offline Game Collaborations

Although many VTubers participate in collaborations with other VTubers, they are usually done via online chat services like Discord. An "offline" collaboration, however, involves all members being in the same location, often at someone's house. Shion has done several offline collaborations with members like Minato Aqua, but one of her most popular collaborations is her Mario Tennis 64 stream with Houshou Marin (Marin) . Although the stream was scheduled to start at a specific time, both Marine and Shion accidentally slept for over 4 hours. Meanwhile, Shirakami Fubuki hosted her own stream where she offered play-by-play style commentary to see who would wake up first. Fubuki's stream eventually attracted 60,000 concurrent viewers and caused the situation to trend on Twitter, turning what would have been an inconvenience for fans into a memorable moment for all of Hololive.
