Nezuko Kamado - Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer)

Nezuko Kamado is the younger sister of Tanjiro Kamado , supposedly transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji . She makes her debut early on in the Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) manga and anime series as one of the main protagonists. Having grown up on the mountain alongside Tanjiro, she is a year younger than him and assumes the role of the eldest female in her family. These responsibilities include taking care of the family, as well as helping with household chores.

Appearance

Nezuko is known as a great beauty in her hometown according to Tanjiro. She appears as a fair-skinned girl with long, dark brown hair that reaches just below her waist, where it begins to turn a vermillion color at the elbows. A pink ribbon on the side ties her bangs together, revealing her forehead. She has wide, narrow, downward-sloping eyebrows framing her face. Notably, she has long eyelashes covering her soft-looking pink eyes, gradually turning a lighter color around the edges of the irises. The shape of her small nose takes on a slightly upturned appearance at the tip.

Nezuko is usually seen wearing a bamboo gag secured by a red cloth around her jaw received from Giyu Tomioka . Her attire consists of a sakura-colored kimono with a triangular geometric pattern, held together by a red and white checkered obi wrapped with an orange thread running above the waist. Her kimono is complemented by a long, dark brown haori that reaches down to her knees. She also wears straw zori sandals and white socks wrapped around thick, dark brown bands.

When she transforms, she is able to shrink her pupils into narrow slits, and also develop prominent fangs and sharp nails that extend like claws. When she transforms into her berserk demon form, she gains tattoos around her body shaped like vines. While her veins pop out and a single horn protrudes from the right side of her forehead, she also matures to an age where she appears as a young adult.

Personality

Nezuko is a kind and caring girl who cares for her family, often helping with household chores. However, after transforming into a demon, she loses most of her memories of family. She primarily becomes more detached from human emotions while still being able to smile and cry. Compared to other demons, she is calm and less malicious towards humans. She still retains her original caring and protective personality towards the humans she considers family. It should be noted that Sakonji Urokodaki also had an influence on this trait, claiming to have used hypnosis on Nezuko while she was in hibernation for two years. In battle, she is brash and fiercely protective of her allies, such as Tanjiro. Her strong will is such that despite being a human-eating demon, she refuses to consume flesh or blood. Although she mostly forgets how to speak, she uses expressive body language when communicating with others and, on rare occasions, attempts to speak.

Demon Abilities

Size Manipulation - Able to manipulate her physical form and age to a certain extent. Often used by Nezuko for travel when she is carried in a box by Tanjiro by reverting to a younger infant stage. During battle, she exhibits growth in which she transforms into an adult body more suited for combat. However, using this form causes her to exert more energy noted when she tries to run away after being injured in her first battle due to exhaustion.
Natural Strength - As a demon, she is easily able to fight other demons. Using brute force to handle most situations, she has not been formally trained. She is particularly strong given that she has never consumed human blood.
Enhanced Regeneration - Possesses extraordinary regenerative abilities common to demons. However, at full potential, she is able to solidify and manipulate her blood at will.
Demonic Transformation - She transforms further into a state of raging madness, indicated by a single horn protruding from the right side of her forehead. Vine-like tattoos encircling her entire body appear, as well as veins around her body and forehead. This form increases her overall abilities at the cost of having to consume humans for energy.
Blood Demon Arts - (血鬼術) Able to ignite her blood from a distance, she is able to control flames that can be used offensively or defensively. This art can be used in combination with Tanjiro's Flame God Dance. One of the Blood Arts used to protect Tanjiro in the fight against Rui.
Blood Burst - Was used to transform his Nichirin Blade into a crimson red color.
