Okami Amaterasu - Figures
Okami is a video game originally developed by Clover Studio and published by Capcom in April 2006. Although it was first released for the PlayStation 2 and Wii, the game has subsequently been re-released and remastered several times over the years, with the most recent release being for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. Okami and its characters are largely based on elements of Japanese mythology, folk tales, and Shintoism. Fans of the game often praise it for its "Celestial Brush" mechanic and the traditional Japanese art style it draws inspiration from. One of the most prominent characters in the game is Amaterasu, the sun goddess and protagonist of the game.
As the protagonist and mascot of the series, much of Okami 's merchandise is inspired by the incarnation of the wolf goddess, and one of the most popular forms of merchandise is the collectible figure. Of the small handful of Amaterasu figures that have been produced, two of the most popular are the "Okami Amaterasu: Standard Edition Statue" and the "Nendoroid Okami Amaterasu DX Ver."
Okami Amaterasu: Standard Edition Figure
This Amaterasu figurine shows her posed as if she were landing gracefully after a leap from above. Her front paws have firmly touched the ground beneath her while her hind legs are still raised high. A line of blooming flowers and other plants follows Amaterasu's path, highlighting her divine nature. This figurine is also sculpted with great detail while remaining true to the traditional Japanese Okami style. Several tufts of hair wrapped around her legs and tail look like they came straight out of a painting. Additionally, Amaterasu's tail has a black tip, giving it the appearance of a calligraphy brush.

About Amaterasu
Amaterasu is the sun goddess and the main protagonist of Okami . Here is a brief summary of her character.
Background
In the introduction to Okami , the seal preventing Orochi, the first main antagonist, from terrorizing the land is removed. With the evil serpent Orochi free to curse the lands as he sees fit, Konohana's fairy, Sakuya, uses her remaining strength to summon Amaterasu to prevent Nippon from falling completely under Orochi's control. Although Amaterasu is considered one of the most powerful gods in all of Japan, her 100-year slumber has greatly weakened her and deprived her of many memories. That said, Amaterasu has no choice but to regain her lost power and defeat Orochi before it's too late.
Special Abilities
One of Amaterasu's most unique traits is her "Celestial Brush." While she only starts with her original ability, "Sunrise," Amaterasu gradually gains abilities from other gods to aid her in her quest to defeat those who wish harm to the people of Japan. In addition to Sunrise, which can be used to summon the sun to appear in the sky, twelve other gods bless Amaterasu with their abilities. These abilities can range from a powerful slash to controlling various elements, summoning bombs, and causing plants to bloom.
Other important characters in Okami
During her adventures, Amaterasu meets many different characters. Two of the most important characters she becomes involved with are Issun and Orochi.
Issun
Issun is a Poncle—a tiny, sprite-sized human—who ends up becoming Amaterasu's traveling companion after managing to escape Orochi's cure by hiding in Sakuya's kimono. Before the events of Okami, Issun was born in the Poncle village of Ponc'tan, but eventually left home to become a traveling entertainer. Issun eventually ended up in Konohana Village when Orochi was unsealed, saving him from what would have been certain doom. While Issun may appear incredibly rude, flirtatious, and immature, he proves to be knowledgeable and reliable in Amaterasu's adventure.
Orochi
Orochi is an eight-headed serpent demon and acts as a major antagonist in Okami. Although Orochi was defeated and sealed by Susano's ancestor and Amaterasu's previous incarnation, the seal was mistakenly broken, allowing him to wreak havoc in Japan once again. Much like Amaterasu, however, many years of slumber left Orochi incredibly weakened. This, coupled with cunning strategy and Susano's courage, allowed Amaterasu to once again defeat the evil demon. After his defeat, the sword used to seal him is transformed into a Tsumugari and can be used by Amaterasu.
