"One Piece": Does Sabo's full name include the letter "D"?

When it comes to One Piece's supporting characters, everyone knows how important Sabo is to the series. This quirky character has a rich history and is closely tied to Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace, and we know how important they are. Currently known as "Flame Emperor" Sabo, the character has become even more important in the manga's latest chapters, as his role has suddenly become one of the major threats to the World Government. And while he's been known as Sabo for most of his life, the young man's reputation has recently earned him a new nickname, but is that all there is to it? Does Sabo have a full name, and could his full name actually contain the initial "D"? We'll analyze that for you in this article.
At the moment, Sabo's full name is just Sabo. The title "Flame Emperor" is simply an epithet he received due to his Devil Fruit abilities. It is currently unknown whether Sabo could be Sabo D. [something] or [Something] D. Sabo, as Oda has not implied that Sabo has the Will of D. in his name. As far as is known, the initial is inherited, and Sabo's parents did not have this initial, so it is unlikely unless Oda changes something; the Will of D. remains a big enigma in One Piece, and there is room for change, but since one-word names are common in the series, Sabo's status remains as it is.
The rest of this article will answer some pertinent questions about Sabo's character and his current story in One Piece. You'll discover everything you want and need to know about the character, as we intend to answer some burning and interesting questions that have recently arisen in the series. If you're not familiar with the entire story of One Piece, we must warn you that there will be spoilers in the following paragraphs.
The Will of D is an enigma, and while Sabo doesn't seem like a likely person with the initial, that could change.
And while Sabo has been a well-known character since his debut in One Piece manga chapter 583, he was simply known as Sabo for nearly 500 chapters. This changed in manga chapter 1054, released on July 25, 2022, titled "Flame Emperor." In this chapter, Sabo received a new name and has since been known as "Flame Emperor" Sabo.
Now, Sabo is an old character, but his role has steadily grown since he joined the Revolutionary Dragon Army and received Ace's old Devil Fruit. The latter earned Sabo the new epithet, but that's a different topic and one we've discussed before in the series. And while this article will also focus on Sabo's name, we'll be tackling a different aspect here: could Sabo have the Will of D, the famous initial "D," in his name?
The Will of D refers to a series of characters with the initial letter D in their name, usually between their first and last names. Not much is known about this initial at this time, but historically, many powerful and important characters in the series have had or still have the Will of D, including Luffy, Roger, Ace, Garp, and Blackbeard, among others. They are considered the "natural enemies of God" by the World Nobles. Recently, it was revealed that Queen Lili of Alabasta is somehow related to the initial, but this remains a mystery.
Thus, most characters who possess the initial were immediately identified as having it. Sabo did not. And while the Will of D remains a great mystery, it has been implied that it was inherited in some way (just as Garp's son, Dragon, and grandson, Luffy, hold the initial, as does Ace, who was Roger's son), but the exact mechanism is still unknown.
In this regard, in Sabo's case, we can say that he was born in the kingdom of Goa to a noble family whose parents wanted him to marry a royal daughter to elevate their own status, regardless of her opinion on the matter. Aware of this, Sabo ran away around the age of five, presumed dead by his parents. He then met Ace, with whom he began stealing around the city and at the Grey Terminal, becoming the best of friends.
His parents didn't have the initial D in their name, so Sabo couldn't have inherited it. Their last names are unknown, so we don't really know Sabo's full name, but one-word names in One Piece aren't uncommon (Shanks, for example, Imu, etc.), so it could be that he'll just remain Sabo forever. Now, at the moment, we don't really know what Oda has in store for Sabo, but he's definitely going to play a bigger role in the series in the future. Does this mean he'll get the D in his name? We don't know.
The main problem here is that we don't know how the initial is obtained. It's possible that Sabo gets it from Dragon, who has it, but that would completely change the current paradigm related to the Will of God, and Oda would have to explain why some characters are born with it, as well as how some other characters received it.
Sabo getting D's will doesn't seem likely at this point, but it's not completely impossible. It would require more intervention and a lot of explanation, but it's not completely impossible. This means we'll have to wait and see how the situation unfolds to find out.
