One Piece: What was Jewelry Bonney doing in the waterspout?

One Piece has a surprisingly large number of supporting characters who have appeared over the series' two decades of existence. Some of these characters are more important, others less so, and in this article, we'll tell you about the most recent events surrounding a well-known character—Jewelry Bonney. Bonney suddenly appeared as a child from a waterspout and was rescued by the Straw Hats. What was she doing there? Why is she still a child? All these questions will be answered in this article, in which you'll discover what happened to Bonney in Wano Country and at the beginning of the Egghead Arc.
After meeting Sabo, she was caught in a Warm Eddy.
Since it's connected, we'll start this article with Bonney's story in the Wano Country Arc. While looking for her father at Pangea Castle, she meets Sabo, and having guessed that they are both there for the same reason, she reveals to him that she is the daughter of Bartholomew Kuma, whom she has continued to monitor, thanks to the news of the revolutionaries, so she confesses that she knows he can trust them to save him. She then sees the boy giving Karasu the keys to the explosive collars and asks him to tell Morley that she must bring Kuma and the other freed slaves to headquarters as soon as possible.
When Karasu asks his partner what his next move will be, Sabo replies that he will join them as soon as he has achieved his other objective. She then asks the same question to Bonney, who claims to be heading to Egghead to convince Vegapunk to restore his father's consciousness. Hearing guards approaching her, Sabo grabs her and climbs onto a ceiling beam, where she hears the men discussing the recent disappearance of several of their colleagues who had seen the legendary "Lost Room."
Once outside the building, Sabo reveals that they will be going in the opposite direction from his destination, wishing him luck. Bonney is surprised that a revolutionary is so worried, so Sabo reminds her that they want to save the same person. She agrees with him and asks him to take care of her father before they part ways. Starving, she hides in the hold of the Tajine Kingdom's ship, which sets sail. At one point, she becomes trapped in a Warm Eddy, a powerful current, which nearly takes her life.
The Straw Hats rescued Jewelry Bonney, but she was a child again.
As explained, Jewelry Bonney decided to sail alone to Egghead to convince Vegapunk to restore her father's humanity, but her ship ended up being devoured near the island by a giant steel shark and ended up in a waterspout in mid-air, risking drowning. However, the Straw Hat Pirates arrive at that moment with their ship, and Zoro cuts the mass of water in two while the Straw Hat Pirates grab her, asking who she is; she thanks him and warns that there is a monster below them: the three end up in the sea, but Jinbe dives, bringing them back to the surface.
At that moment, however, she notices that the shark is about to fire a cannon from its mouth at them, so she tells the three to take a deep breath as it will move along the seabed to avoid being hit. Reaching a cave on a nearby island, the group dries their clothes.
Having regained her normal appearance, she wonders if they don't recognize her, explaining that she is also part of the Worst Generation and was also in Sabaody two years ago. She then states that her name is Bonney and tells Luffy not to forget that they are his enemies, still thanking him for saving her, though she is surprised that she is an emperor judging by her behavior. The girl, then thinking about the Straw Hats' new wanted poster, states that they thought she had white hair, asking if the newspapers had caused any confusion.
Luffy replies that it's the form she takes when her body is free, but the pirate doesn't understand her and asks what happened to her companions, who he says are fine. Bonney points out that it's amazing that Jinbe is part of her crew, who asks about her crew. She, the girl, reveals that she came alone, but the Steel Shark ate her boat, and she's now hungry. Luffy suggests they look for a restaurant since he's hungry too, while Chopper asks if he has any money on him. Bonney, however, calls them ignorant since it's a World Government island, explaining that they're on Egghead, which would be like being five hundred years into the future, and that it also houses Vegapunk's laboratory, which she's looking for.
What happened next? Well... we won't spoil it for you here! The purpose of this article was to explain the waterspout "incident," and that's what we've done. You know how and why she ended up there, as well as what happened immediately afterward, which is enough for now, but we're sure to follow Bonney's story later, so keep following us for more One Piece content!
