Buggy is a cult character that cannot be denied, but if you look closely at his history, you'll notice that he's practically useless in every way, yet he's now the emperor. How? That's a debate for a completely different article, but in this one, we're actually going to tell you how strong Buggy is, because it's a well-known fact that the Emperors are some of the strongest characters in the series.

Buggy the Clown is certainly not one of the strongest One Piece characters, but he's not the weakest either. He's a skilled fighter with a lot of experience, and since his debut, he's gotten much stronger. He's also skilled with bladed weapons. His Devil Fruit, the Bara Bara no Mi, allows him to detach parts of his body (except for his feet), which can be used for both defensive and offensive purposes, making Buggy a difficult opponent to fight.

He is one of the Four Emperors, the captain of his own crew, and has complete command over all pirate crews associated with him. Buggy is a great fighter, though not as strong as the other former Roger Pirates. He had the courage to endure all the battles with Whitebeard's Pirates and the grave perils of the Grand Line.

He continues to fight and seizes every opportunity to build a strong reputation through his vanity and greed. At the beginning of the series, he was a significant enemy, but as stronger enemies emerged, he lost some of his threat. Finally, some convicts in the Impel Down Saga have commented on his fragility.

He can, however, endure hardships that even the strongest characters cannot (albeit with assistance). Buggy has very strong endurance, as evidenced by the fact that he survived the blast of a Mugggy Ball that was redirected towards him with virtually no injury (although his Devil Fruit may have helped him somewhat), while Minotaur, guards of Impel Down, were severely injured by a Mugggy Ball.

He also possesses great physical strength, as evidenced by being able to injure one of his subordinates with a single hand, easily pick up a Blugori and throw it to the ground (though he got up with only minor injuries), and carry Jinbe and Luffy while floating his upper body (though this can be attributed to his Devil Fruit ability).

Buggy's exceptional luck was one of the things that aided him in his escapades, especially during the events at Marineford. The inmates' unwavering loyalty was made possible by his knack for reading people's moods, his love of drama, and his strategically placed lines to strengthen his team spirit. Many pirates also developed strong loyalty towards him due to their misinterpretations of his actions, such as challenging Kizaru and then declaring that he just wanted to leave (which they interpreted to mean Buggy wanted to defeat Kizaru as quickly as possible to return home), as well as the accidental capture of Jinbe.

Most people were in tears because of his "exploits." Buggy is at least considered a competent chemist, at the very least. This was demonstrated when he created a cannonball with the force to level an entire city, then shrunk the same projectile while retaining its destructive potential.

Buggy accidentally ate the Bara Bara no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that grants him the ability to split his body into separate parts and fight with them independently of each other, but he can no longer swim, an activity that, as Shanks claims, Buggy was very good at back when they were both moss. Buggy is now immune to thrust, slash, and slice attacks, except for those that sever him from his body, thanks to the skills he received from this fruit.

Additionally, with the notable exception of his feet, the majority of his body is capable of slashing through the air with enough speed and force to put a man through a wall. Buggy is still able to sense what each component feels like, even if each part is independent. For example, when Luffy attacked Buggy, he ripped his torso from his waist, but Luffy merely punched him in the crotch. Additionally, when Buggy uses the Bara Bara Festival to try to kill Nami, Luffy picks up one of Buggy's feet and tickles it, which makes Buggy laugh.

Whichever part of his body is detached doesn't matter because the unaffected parts can still function normally; for example, his feet can walk steadily even when Buggy throws the rest of him into the air. Buggy is a skilled fighter and the Devil Fruit power he possesses makes him virtually unbeatable, but because he frequently neglects certain parts of his body, Luffy is able to break them.

When Nami restrained part of his body during their first fight, it was established that one of his weaknesses was the fact that if a part of his body was restricted, he could no longer use it. He is immune to slashing attacks and can be considered a natural enemy even to the most powerful swordsman, as evidenced by how easily he evaded Dracule Mihawk's extremely powerful attacks.

His feet are his Devil Fruit's main weakness. Like the rest of his body, they are unable to leave the ground. Buggy cannot lose parts of his body even if he still detects them, and he is forced to use independent means to get close to all parts outside of a specific location if he wants to fully unite.

Buggy seems to be fond of bladed weapons, especially knives, in his arsenal. He frequently holds one or three knives at a time and seems to be able to perform small tricks like slashing or stabbing his opponents. Buggy always seems to have an incredible amount of these weapons on him, including a range of weapons he hides in his gloves or shoes (where he also carries blades and uses his feet as weapons).

In Loguetown, he was also observed attempting to cut off Luffy's head while wielding a sword. He began Impel Down using a tomahawk he stole from a Blugori, but after getting lost equipped with four katanas, he switched to a pistol used by one of the jailers. In addition to knives, he is frequently seen brandishing (or threatening to brandish) his Buggy Balls, which are highly explosive cannonballs bearing the pirate flag.
