One Piece: What is the Sorbet Kingdom and where is it located?

The locations we've seen in Oda's One Piece are truly astonishing, and the author has demonstrated a very intriguing talent in creating his locations. And even though some of them are somewhat similar to others, Oda has nevertheless managed to bring at least a little touch of originality to each of them. The final saga of One Piece tells us more about an important historical location that was closely linked to the character of Bartholomew Kuma: the Sorbet Kingdom. In this article, we'll tell you everything you need to know about the Sorbet Kingdom and its importance to the story of One Piece.
Sorbet is the ancient kingdom of Kuma
In this section, we will tell you the story of the Sorbet Kingdom. At some point in the future, Bulldog became king. Kuma was born in the kingdom but was soon enslaved by the world's nobles along with his parents and deported to Mary Geoise. Thirty-six years before the beginning of the story, Bartholomew Kuma managed to escape and returned to the island with Ginny and Emporio Ivankov. The latter set sail shortly after.
Eight years later, Bekori became the new ruler and ordered all inhabitants to pay the Heavenly Tribute, arresting anyone unable to do so. He did not feed the prisoners and had anyone who became ill killed. Kuma thus began to ease the suffering of the kingdom's inhabitants with his powers. Twenty years before the beginning of the story, the royal guards captured some inhabitants of the southern part of the island for slavery after the king shifted the kingdom's borders to include only the wealthy northern part to reduce the Heavenly Tribute due, calculated based on the number of inhabitants. Kuma resisted but was arrested; Ginny and her friends tried to free him but ended up in the same cell as him.
However, the Freedom Fighters arrived in the kingdom and overthrew the king. Ginny and Bartholomew Kuma were thus enlisted. The latter returned whenever he could to care for the sick. Ten years before the beginning of the story, Ginny returned with her daughter, whom she left with the elderly before dying from the illness she had contracted. Kuma returned to the kingdom and decided to care for the newborn.
Six years later, Bekori returned to Sorbet where he burned the poor people of the southern part of the island and their homes, many of whom were saved by Kuma. The inhabitants of the northern part disliked his methods and revolted, however, some of them were killed as a warning to the others. However, Kuma then destroyed the royal castle, forcing Bekori to flee the island. The building was later rebuilt. Kuma then agreed to become king but left Bulldog to administer the kingdom.
With the newspapers portraying him as a tyrannical usurper, Kuma left Sorbet to prevent it from being attacked, asking Bulldog to assume the role of king. Two years before the story begins, Kuma returned for Bonney, taking her with him to receive a visit from Vegapunk. Six months later, he escorted her back to the island, where some members of CP8 had also settled. Kuma then left Sorbet for good. A year later, Bonney left the island on a boat with Gyogyo, Tots, and Potato in search of Kuma after discovering that the doctors and nurses following her were actually World Government agents whose mission was to keep her there for another six months.
It is located in the Blue South
Geography-wise, we know that the Sorbet Kingdom is an island nation located somewhere in the Blue South. The exact coordinates, as well as the proximity of other locations, are unknown at this point. The island was, at one point (due to political unrest), divided into two sections—the south and the north—but this was not a natural division, but rather a political one. The nation's capital is Castle Town, while other major landmarks—both located in the south—are the church and the Old People's Village.
Castle Town, the capital of the Sorbet Kingdom, is located in the northern part of the island, according to the political division mentioned above. The buildings are very tall and shaped like icicles. This is where the current ruler of the Sorbet Kingdom is located. Now let's head a little further south.
In the southwest part, there is a village inhabited mainly by poor elderly people, which is why it received the aforementioned name "Elderly Village." It is located very close to Kuma Church. The church is actually located in the southeast part of the island, and near the church is also a cemetery. A year and a half before the beginning of the story, CP8 agents fenced them both off and built their quarters next to them, which was a horrible thing to do in such an important place. This concludes our overview of the Sorbet Kingdom; we hope we have helped you better understand this important place.
