One Piece: Who Are God's Knights?

One Piece manga chapter 1083 is finally out, and the spoilers we saw several days ago have finally been confirmed. Now, while some spoilers only expanded on what we knew earlier, the chapter itself also provided us with a slew of new information about some spoilers that were until now a complete mystery. One of the major spoilers in the series was the one related to the God's Knights, a very special organization of seemingly powerful individuals that had been mentioned earlier. However, we finally got some additional information about them in this chapter. While it's still not much, we'll tell you everything we know about the God's Knights in this article.

The Knights of God are a group of seemingly very powerful employees of the World Government. There are at least nine of them, and so far, the identities of these individuals are unknown; it is unclear whether they are truly loyal to the World Government or simply hired by it. They are above the Marines and serve as a security force in the Holy Land of Marie Geoise.

The rest of this article will expand on the answer we just gave you. We don't know much about the God's Knights at this point in the story, but we assume that the next chapters of the manga will reveal more information about this mysterious group. What follows is an overview of all the known information, as well as an analysis of some speculation. Be careful, however, because the article will be full of spoilers for the most recent manga chapters of One Piece.

The Knights of God are powerful but remain an enigma

The Knights of God were first mentioned in Chapter 1054, but nothing specific has been revealed about them at this point. Sakazuki mentioned them while discussing the recent attack on Mary Geoise carried out by the growing power of the Revolutionary Army.

Sakazuki stated that the mere fact that the God Knights are summoned poses a problem for them, the Marines, meaning that the God Knights are an organization that wields more power than the Marines, which is impressive. Furthermore, it seems that the God Knights have jurisdiction over disagreements that arise between the world's nobles, which shows just how much power they truly wield.

After Sabo and the Revolutionary Army attacked Mary Geoise in an unprecedented move and emerged victorious, the Holy Land was in complete chaos, and it was clear to the World Government that the Marines were insufficient to handle the problem. During the attack, an unknown assailant attempted to assassinate Saint Charlos, and Saint Mjosgard was suspected of letting him escape. Instead of the Marines investigating the entire matter, the Knights of God were summoned to take charge of the investigation, to which the Marines reacted with great concern.

Nothing was said about them until Chapter 1083, when Monkey D. Dragon and Emporio Ivankov discussed the aftermath of the attack on Mary Geoise. Dragon was well aware of the existence of the Knights of God, and he mentioned the possibility that the group could be mobilized to intervene after the Revolutionary Army's successful attack on the Holy Land.

We then got a glimpse of their silhouettes, as it was implied that Monkey D. Dragon was well aware of the group and the identities of its members (it could be that Oda simply revealed this unrelated to what Dragon was saying, but that doesn't seem to be the case from our perspective).

It was quite clear that the Knights of God were something of an asset to the World Government, as even Dragon spoke of them as if they were stronger than the Marines. The fact that the World Government doesn't use them except in times of major crisis speaks for itself, and it seems Dragon was well aware of this.

He also commented on how the Knights of God could make Sabo their primary target, as he was not only the leader of the attack on Mary Geoise but also a new symbol of hope for the people, making him exceptionally dangerous. He also hinted that the Revolutionary Army would soon have to face the Knights of God, possibly foreshadowing another major battle in the series.

And that's all we know about this group from a narrative perspective, as that's all Oda has revealed so far. We hope to see more soon, so we'll likely reveal more information here on Proximity Japan as it becomes available. Now let's see how powerful they are.

The group appears to hold enormous power within Mary Geoise

We all know how important the World Government is to the story of One Piece. The World Government is an organization founded 800 years ago by 20 aristocratic families, to which most of the world's countries and kingdoms have submitted. The World Government's headquarters is located in the holy city of Marie Géoise, where 19 families have settled and which is also known as the Holy Land.

At the head of the World Government are the Gorōsei, the Five Elders. They are five elderly people of unknown origins who sit in council in Marie Géoise and guide world affairs. This is what the public thinks. But, in fact, the Five Elders actually answer to a mysterious monarch known as Im, whose very existence is kept secret from everyone, even the other members of the World Government.

Immediately below the Gorōsei is the Commander-in-Chief; for twenty-two years since Gol D. Roger's execution, Kong, a former Grand Admiral, has held this position, which gives him control over the Cipher Pol units, the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the Naval Headquarters, the Enies Lobby, and other World Government officials. Two of the three Great Powers are under the control of the World Government.

Until now, the Marines have been considered the most powerful unit within the World Government hierarchy, but as confirmed by Sakazuki and Monkey D. Dragon, the Knights of God hold more power and authority than them; they are exclusively tied to Mary Geoise, but their power there is far greater than that of the Marines.

It's unclear how powerful they are in terms of their powers and regular physical abilities, but from everything we've gathered, they're quite powerful. Sakazuki doesn't openly like them, while Dragon is quite cautious around them and doesn't take them too lightly. This would make them one of the most powerful groups in the series overall.

The members are, for the moment, still unknown

As we saw when Monkey D. Dragon talked about it, the God Knights are made up of at least nine people. Their silhouettes have been shown in the manga. Unfortunately, we can't identify any of them yet, and Oda hasn't revealed any information about the identities of the God Knights' members. Some fans have speculated that the main silhouette could be Shanks. While we can't deny that the silhouette resembles Shanks, we don't think it's likely, as the God Knights' base of operations is Mary Geoise, while Shanks is still at sea. It would also be a huge betrayal of all of Shanks' ideals and a big shock to fans. Knowing Oda isn't impossible, but we don't think it's likely at this point.
