On top of that, they're generally very well-written characters whose stories are always fun to explore. And that's what we're going to do in this article. This article will focus on two supportive yet exceptionally interesting characters. The two are polar opposites, which is probably why they're such good friends. You guessed it: the characters in question are Sai and Leo. In this article, you'll find out who Sai and Leo are and what happened to them in the world of One Piece.

Sai and Leo are two supporting characters in Oda's One Piece, pirates who lead their own crews and are part of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Sai is a member of the Chinjao family and is the 13th leader of the Happo Navy, while Leo is a dwarf from the Tontatta Kingdom and the leader of the Tontatta Pirates. In addition to being allies, the two are also close friends and have worked together in the past.

Sai is a powerful giant…

Sai, like Leo, played a significant role in the Dresrossa and Levely arcs. They are both secondary characters who would later become Luffy's allies and members of his Straw Hat Grand Fleet, with which he is expected to fight his opponents and rivals; he is the captain of the fleet's third ship. Sai is a member of the Chinjao family and the 13th leader of the Happo Navy. He is an expert martial artist and a physically formidable and durable fighter with great stamina. He is married to Baby 5, a former officer of the Donquixote Pirates, who left her crew because she fell in love with Sai.

Along with his grandfather Don Chinjao and his brother Boo, they competed at the Corrida Coliseum to win the Mera Mera no Mi and sabotage the arms deals of the Donquixote pirate gang. After losing the fight and eventually being turned into toys by Sugar, they revert to human form after Sugar faints and, along with the Coliseum gladiators, head to Donquixote Doflamingo's royal palace to kill him.

He then appears at the foot of the Palace with the other Gladiators, having finished defeating the Don Quixote Family. He doesn't sit idly by, asking the available men to accompany him because the fight isn't over yet. All the tired or defeated fighters have been revived thanks to Mansherry's powers. After Doflamingo's defeat, Sai joins Luffy and the other fighters to confront Issho. Once safely aboard Columbus's Yonte Maria, he and his crew pledged their allegiance to Luffy and his crew.

When Luffy refused, saying he didn't intend to be famous but to be the Pirate King, Sai was very surprised. He wasn't even listened to by Luffy, which angered him. In the end, he exchanged a free cup of sake with the other six captains, swearing allegiance to Luffy, allying himself with members who would help each other in times of need. He then celebrated their victory over Doflamingo with his new comrades.

Sai returns to Kano Country, where he meets Uholisia, who asks him about the wedding date. At this point, Sai communicates his decision to break off the engagement, and for doing so, she suffers a severe beating. He later marries Baby 5. Arriving in Mary Geoise as an escort for the ruler of Kano Country, he reunites with Rebecca and Leo, revealing to the latter that he will sever ties with the kingdom after the conclusion of the Levely. Shortly after, the World Noble Saint Charlos attempts to capture Shirahoshi as his slave; the rulers present do not want to get involved and try to prevent Bibi and Rebecca from intervening so as not to cause diplomatic incidents.

However, Sai and Leo did not hold back and launched the attack but were stopped by Rob Lucci, who arrived with other CP0 agents. Sai then saw Neptune preparing to attack Saint Charlos, who ordered Lucci to kill the man. However, the World Noble was struck with a spiked mace by one of his peers. Sai then heard Mjosgard declare that she would stand by the mermaid for the duration of the Levely and take responsibility for any action to protect the princesses.

…while Leo is his opposite – and his great friend!

On the other hand, Leo is the complete opposite of the physically imposing Sai, but he is also one of his best friends; the two make a very funny duo. He is actually a dwarf from the Tontatta Kingdom and the current leader of the former "Tonta Corps," now known as the Tontatta Pirates. He is also the captain of the fifth ship in Luffy's fleet.

Leo answers the Marines when they ask him if he is part of the Straw Hat Pirates and if they are good or bad people. When the Marines respond that they are good people, Leo tells the Marines to surrender their weapons. When Marine refuses, he disarms them all. When Kabu is caught by Robin shortly after, Leo and the other dwarves arrive and capture Robin and Usopp by sedating them with some kind of anesthetic flower. They then bring Robin and Usopp to the Tontatta Kingdom.

He uses his Devil Fruit ability to tie Robin to the ground while the other dwarves examine her body and the contents of her bag. When Robin wakes up, the dwarves are shocked, and Leo begins to question her, wondering if she is a bad person. When Robin says she means no harm and won't tell anyone where they are, Leo quickly believes her and releases Robin, smiling happily.

Since Robin had no weapons, Leo and the other dwarves tried to take off his clothes. However, Flapper stopped them and told them not to hurt Robin as he was a friend of the "hero." Later, Usopp asked why the dwarves wanted to fight Doflamingo. The dwarves laughed and said they wanted to defeat the one who was holding 500 of their friends as slaves. The dwarves began to leave, stating that they had a business under the Colosseum, where the prison was located.

Once the preparations were complete, the dwarven army marched towards Dressrosa with Robin and Usopp. They then gathered at Riku's Royal Army headquarters. Leo reacted happily when the ruler mentioned King Riku's name and explained that they had gone to the royal palace to attack Doflamingo. The rebels continued to the central tower, where Leo's story aligns with Sai's, so we won't repeat that. Like Sai, he reappeared during the Levely Arc, but since we already told you what happened then, we won't repeat it.
