One Piece: Sabo Is Not a Celestial Dragon! Here's Why!

When it comes to One Piece's supporting characters, everyone knows how important Sabo is to the series. This original character has a rich history and is closely related to Monkey D. Luffy and Portgas D. Ace, and we know how important they are. Currently known as "Flame Emperor" Sabo, the character has become even more important in the manga's latest chapters, as his role has suddenly become one of the major threats to the World Government. This is somewhat ironic, considering how Sabo himself comes from a noble heritage. Does this make him a Celestial Dragon? Keep reading to find out if Sabo is a World Noble or not!

  • Distribution of articles:
  • In the story of One Piece, the Celestial Dragons or World Nobles are the descendants of nineteen of the First Twenty who established what is now known as the World Government.
  • Sabo himself is of noble descent, as he was born the son of Outlook III and his wife, who are aristocrats of Goa, but they are not members of the Twenty First.
  • This ultimately means that Sabo is not a Celestial Dragon, even though the fact that he is an aristocrat cannot be denied.

The World Nobles are a very specific and closed group

Fans of the One Piece manga and anime will know that the World Nobles are an extremely important group in the series. While they don't participate directly in combat, they essentially control the "legal world" of One Piece through the world government they established long ago. Pirates, of course, aren't under their jurisdiction, which is why the Marines continue to hunt them down, as does the Revolutionary Army, whose main goal is to bring down the World Nobles. But who are they?

Well, they're obviously rich and powerful aristocrats, that much is more than obvious. But while they're the most influential aristocrats in the series, they're not the only ones in the series. So, how do they stand out? Well, the World Nobles are the descendants of the nineteen families that made up the original First Twenty; the First Twenty, also known as the Creators, were the twenty kings who initially established the World Nobles. With the exception of the Nefertari family, which broke away from the first twenty, the remaining nineteen families became the Celestial Dragons later in the series.

So, to be considered a World Noble, one must be born into one of nineteen families, and while we don't yet know the names of all of these families, we do know that Sabo's family isn't one of them. We'll expand on this in the next section.

MF Ghost Anime: Wiki Plot, Release Date

No, Sabo is not a world noble, but he does come from a noble heritage.

Fans might be a little confused by the fact that Sabo is actually a noble, which is probably why they thought he might be a member of the World Nobles. And he really is an aristocrat, but as we said above, that doesn't mean anything.

Namely, Sabo was born as the son of Outlook III and his wife, Didit. They were minor aristocrats of the Kingdom of Goa and were not related to the original twenty, meaning that despite their aristocratic heritage, they were not actually members of the world nobles. Therefore, Sabo is not a member of this group either.

His family actually wanted fame and fortune for themselves, which is why Sabo left them and cut all ties with his family as soon as he realized that they cared more about their social status than about him as a son. This happened when he got into a fight with another child of aristocratic origin; the boy pulled out a knife and injured Sabo, and his mother, instead of caring for him and his injuries, began apologizing to the parents of the boy who injured Sabo. His parents wanted him to marry a princess to further improve their social status.

You can understand how Sabo, a rebel, realized that life among the aristocracy would be of no use to him, and that's why he decided to escape, becoming—today—one of the most important members of the Revolutionary Army. And that's more or less it. This is why Sabo isn't one of the World Nobles and why, despite his heritage, he can't be considered part of that specific, closed group of characters.
